Just installed this system and having watched my first blu-ray on it I have to say I'm very impressed. To summarise:
Positives:
- Great quality picture.
- Unlike other blu-ray players I've had it starts up very quickly (under 25 secs)
- Good intuitive menu system
- I'm no home theatre buff but the sound quality sounded great to me and a great improvement.
- Included iPod dock gives it the flexibility of being a home music system as well
- Easy set-up via the included calibration microphone and the cables for the rear speakers were long enough for my medium sized living room, unlike another small panasonic system that I tried.
- 2xHDMI inputs mean that it's very easy to connect and get 5.1 sounds from my set top box (and a games console if you wanted) without messing about with optical cables etc.
Negatives:
- Bought the rear wireless kit (Samsung SWA-5000 Wireless Rear Speaker Adaptor kit) for it as well. Which while easy to set up, very annoyingly won't let you plug the sub-woofer into it, leaving one wire coming out of my TV cabinet.
- While the system looks great, it's quite thin in height and deep, meaning that it protrudes over the edge of my TV cabinet shelf. They really could have made it a bit fatter and kept it at standard DVD player footprint
Also, has various internet connectivity features (watch you tube, facebook etc. on it) but I haven't tried these as they don't especially interest me.

I received my product yesterday. Here's the summary:
PROS
It looks and sounds great.
The Blu ray gives very good pictures.
CONS
It's not cheap but I was going with the 'you get what you pay for' philosophy.
The HDMI input ports don't work. I thought I was doing something wrong and spent hours trying to sort this out. I then searched the internet to find that I was not alone in having these problems and that Samsung have had related problems with their HDMI cards for many months across several similar models. I called the Samsung support line regarding my problem and was advised to return the unit. That is what I am doing and I will look for another brand.
Shame- it did look lovely.

Was in two minds in what system to get Ht-c5500 5.1 or this one, I opted for the more expensive model.
Ive had this system for just under a week now so thought I would post a early review.
The system itself is gorgeous and the parts look like bits of furniture that would compliment any room. Glossy & black although prob will pick up fingerprints etc so happy cleaning! The size of the unit was an issue for me as its 43cm wide and my tv unit slots are only 42cm wide but decided to take the plunge(so had to cut a bigger space at the back of the tv unit and feed the blu ray player from behind) :( sky hd box only 40cm wide.
The Speaker set up was very easy and are all colour coded(you can't mess this up) The Blu Ray itself took a bit of fiddling about as I have Sky HD box also. I hooked up the systems using hdmi leads but am using an optical lead for sound to the sky hd box.
The box lights up like a xmas tree and looks very cool at first but would like the option of a dimmer button (not sure if there is one) Once plugged in the player downloads the apps that are available ie face book, twitter, games etc (didn't take too long)just go through the instruction booklet and you can't go wrong.
One gripe I had was the Love Film app not being available to blu ray customers as yet. I have phoned Love Film direct and they dont even have a date as yet to when it will be ready. Dissapointing as this was one of the reasons I went for this model.
The menu system is easy to navigate although I aggree with a previous reviewer its not easy using youtube.
Setting up the wireless/PC was a little tricky. You have to locate/search your internet connection (that's not difficult) and enter your pass key. This was easy but for some strange reason it wouldn't pick up my lan and gateway settings??? I came back to this a few hours later and then it decided to work so Im all online now (no lovefilm though) Also there is a samsung pc share software available. This was hard to find on the samsung site but managed to download it to my pc but as yet havent been sucessful in being able to use it to view my pc photo's or music files as yet!! Not working??
The Ipod dongle is a pleasure to use and much improved from previous experiences on older models. You can actually see the music files on the Tv and all the groups you have set up on Itunes ie genre/artists etc (also charges ipod)
Now on to the meat of the review is the Sound & Vison.
Sound: Very pleased with the sound but haven't really cranked it up as yet (waiting for some me time! away from the Mrs!) but im sure I wont be disspointed as Ive had normal Samsung Home Cinema Systems before (ie non blu ray)
Sound is very clear and the sub gives a nice warmth. The speakers are a delight to look at and don't dissapoint in their offerings.
Vison: Excellent quality and Im very impressed with the visuals. Although when I put in *moon* Blu Ray I noticed that on the credits at the beginning of the film the Black screen had wavy lines scrolling down but in the movie itself they were gone and wasn't visible. If any one knows why this is please let us know (set up?)
Also Im struggling with the anynet set up. When Im finished say watching a blu ray, I cant get to change the tv to show sky tv pics/or any other source but can change the sound to hear sky? very frustrating so have to change the source by getting the original tv remote out to do this. Probably need to spend a couple of hours to make sure my set up is in order.
Pros: Beautiful looking system. Nice sound and vision. Wireless. Will be able to download movies straight to your blu ray player soon? (pc share) View pics & listen to music from saved files on Pc (when I can manage to work it out) Ipod function a big plus.
Cons: If price is a issue you and don't need the wireless functions it would probably pay to invest in a cheaper model ie HT-C5500 a model I seriously considered. If price not an issue then take the plunge as although my concerns about issues Ive mentioned this shouldn't detract from the fact its a good looking piece of kit and does the job very well.
