I must say I did a lot of reseach before parting with my some of my kids inheritance, and finally decided on this system for 2 reasons:
1) It received some very favourable reviews, on Amazon and other sites
2) It came 3rd on Which Best Buy home cinema system review (only beaten by some very expensive competition!)
I found the system very easy to put together (yes, you do need to screw the speakers to the stands, but no biggie really); everything plugs in fine, and the wireless rear speakers are great with the additional module (hence I don't need to remove my skiting board to hide the cables - genius!)
Initially I had an issue with the unit resetting my Iphone4, and the firmware update recommended by Samsung actually crashed the unit. A quick trip to the local Samsung repair centre and all was sorted under warranty - now works fine with the the new software (a little tip regarding this seems to be to put ALL update files on the USB stick (in seperate folders as detailed on the website) - the website doesn't make it clear that you need to do both frontend and backend (SSD and ROM) updates at the SAME TIME. May have saved me a trip - who knows...)
Anyhoo - sound is great, although not as loud as I would have expected from a 1000Watt system. Very crisp and clear though, and no distortion even at high volume.
While the speakers are designed to be fitted to their tallboy stands, I'm acually using the front speakers sitting on my TV table, as I don't have room for the stands at the side of the table. They don't come with any rubber feet, so I've had to find my own to stop them vibrating across the glass table at high volume!
When playing through Iphone sound is not as loud as CD or USB for some reason (even with iphone volume on full)
Can also watch iphone movies through the Tv with the supplied dock and yellow video cable... Neat!
Upscaling DVD is great too (not the best I've seen but very close) and when watching movies the surround sound is awesome. Watched 2012 last night - blew me away...
For the price I would definately recommend this system...
