Very fast, very silent 12 Mar 2009

By having just one 160GB platter, this hard drive performs very very well, in transfer speeds, power consumption and noise. It has almost twice the transfer speed of the OEM drive I had in my laptop and it is almost silent.
This is the perfect choice if you prefer speed and power economy to space.

Bought this drive to revive an old Tiny laptop with a dead 20gb hard drive.
Install & format was a doddle & has ample space for my needs, as this is a second laptop for the kids.
It has given it a new lease of life, it now runs much faster than it did originally.
I guess ultimately time will tell how reliable it is, not that I'm worried as it's a Samsung product.
Excellent value for money, so far, I can't fault this drive.

Nofrills reliable and easy to install 17 July 2009

I bought this hard drive to upgrade an old Dell D400 laptop and I am running Windows XP and Linux on two partitions. The drive makes less noise than the previous one I had and fit in the bay with minimal effort. So far I've had no problems and has been working fine.
