I’ve been using my Galaxy Gear Fit for a couple of weeks now. It was a bit of an impulse buy, on offer with O2, so I grabbed myself one. I prefer the look and feel of the Gear Fit vs the Neo or the Gear 2, and it’s definitely a much nicer device to wear on a day to day basis than the original Galaxy Gear.

For me it’s the style of the watch that I like. It’s small and compact and looks smart, giving a solid two to three days of battery life. Throw in the added water resistance and Samsung have really gotten themselves a winner.

When it comes to screen size, the Gear Fit is unusual, but work pretty well. I have my display oriented vertically, making my notifications and menus much easier to navigate through. Speaking of notifications, I don’t really use the watch much for them. Granted it’s handy to be able to see who is calling, or why my phone just vibrated, but for me they are an added bonus.

S-Health is a great complimentary piece of software for the Gear Fit, tracking your heart rate, steps walked, calories burned, sleep patterns and exercise. It’s nice to have these stats in one place, and you can chose when your Gear and phone sync up. I must admit however, the software still has leaps and bounds to go before it is any real use. Right now it’s more of a handy little link up to store your information, but you can’t do a massive amount with it.

So that’s it really, short and sweet. As I mentioned, this is a fantastic watch, and by far my favourite wearable so far. It suits me perfectly as I was looking for a nice looking watch, that had added functionality thrown in. Is it for everyone? No, but if like me, you want a nice watch, that can also link with your phone, then go ahead and take the plunge.

i have used this everyday for the past few months for monitoring my workouts and as a fashionable smart watch. i really want to like it but it keeps disappointing me.
if you exercise at the gym there is nothing on this watch that will help you apart from the running app that uses a pedometer.
all other forms of exercise use the GPS on your phone to track distance.

( Cant use for spin bikes or any other kind of gym equipment other than treadmill )

Heart rate monitor is highly inaccurate, and will cancel your workout if it doesn't detect movement. (ie if holding onto something)

this could be good for you if you like to cycle or hike or go running, but if like me you like indoor fitness this will disappoint,

I bought 1 for my wife and 1 for my daughter, both have really been astounded by the ease of use (apart from booting in Korean!) and the integration with their phones. SHealth could do with a bit of improvement in acknowledging that exercice can be tracked by other apps such as Garmin/Mapmyrun, and those calories can be accounted in daily use. (Earlier version allowed you to enter exercise manually but current version doesn't) but a good piece of 'wearable technology'

On the train with headphones plugged in to my Galaxy S5, via Bluetooth on this gorgeous smartwatch screen I can control volume and skip tracks. When my wrists feels a buzz, I can read email, text messages, What's App and any other notifications I choose, including motification of incoming phone calls (nb. No call answering, only short preprogrammed text responses). Text directions too from your smartphone - combined with the appropriate smartphone app.

Text isplayed can be rotated horizontal or vertical.
Auto screen activation by hand gestures can be on or off.
Timer is easy to use, as is stopwatch. Calendar notifications work well too.
Sleep monitor works but I have no use for this function.

Pedometer and heartbeat monitor: some reports question its accuracy, but I'm not concerned. I just use it to time my workouts and see how much the reading increases.

Battery lasts around 4 days with average Bluetooth use and half brightness.

Conclusion: cool watch that's waterproof and can combine with your smartphone to give some very useful functions. If you can get a smartwatch for under £100 it makes even more sense. I would recommend it.

An excellent smartwatch / fitness tracker crossover.

I've had the Galaxy Gear Fit for a few months now and I love it, it fits the bill perfectly. I have seen a number of mixed reviews some of which did put me off a little but I went for it anyway and I have not looked back.

One on the main con's that most of the reviews referred to was aimed at the pedometer. Well, I work with a number of people that use other trackers like the Jawbone and we do about the same mileage each day. They both appear to come up with similar results. Plus they need to plug it into their phone before they can tell you how far they have walked. With the Fit you only have to look at it (assuming you have gestures enabled).
The battery is good too, I can get around 4 days of light use, by that I mean if you turn it off at night.
Notifications play a big part too as you can customise them very easily.
The look of the Fit can turn heads too, I've had a few oohs and aahs.

Pro:
Its small enough that you don't notice it being there at all, you can easily forget its there yet big enough for comfortable use.

Con:
The only con I can list is that there is just not enough app's. Granted you do often have to sift through the weird and pointless to find the good stuff but I do like a little choice.

Overall this is an excellent piece of wearable tech that is more than comfortable enough for daily use and if you want a smartwatch that still looks more watch than phone then this is for you!
