I was definitely going to buy the ipad air but was made aware of this new Samsung.

It's slightly more expensive, 3 ounces heavier, and it's not made by Apple.

The Note has a greater pixel density, bigger screen, split screen, s pen, a micro card slot up to 64 GB and better cameras plus a flash.

It also has a keyboard with letters and numbers on the same screen which makes entering passwords easier.
Some of the tech guys think the air is superior, but I bought the Galaxy because it had these additional features. It's very usable for anyone who wants a tablet with laptop features.

The split screen allows you to bring up two screens, it can be notes or say google maps and a website or two websites etc. Also the screens can be adjusted so that one is bigger than the other so you can have an email on one side and bring up a Web page on the other.

The S pen is also a game changer with several useful features like screen write, notes, screen shots to scrapbook etc. It's very useful, you can bring up your bank statement, write comments against items and save to gallery or you can research on maps and ring an area for future reference and save in scrapbook or email directions.

These are just two examples but the pen facility is exceptional and not on the air. All 'Note' tablets have the pen and well worth a little effort to get to know. You also have the additional storage with the micro card slot.

The machine works well with google features like drive and movie player, the screen is fab and it's FAST. It's a quality piece of kit. The air seems a bit lacking and expensive when you compare it with the Note.

My wife has the ipad but the galaxy is my favourite.

My first tablet, unexpected Christmas present, and having now had the opportunity to put the tablet through it's paces I can honestly say, it's better than I expected.

Appearance is great. This is a smart looking, thin, lightweight model that rests nicely in the hand. The quality of the visual display is extremely clean and sharp. Function buttons are positioned sensibly and tense enough you have to press firmly to operate them which prevents constant navigating away from the page.

The tablet comes with a handy stylus pen that tucks away nicely in a groove inside the back of the tablet and it's the best stylus I've owned in terms of screen sensitivity.

I'm only having to charge the battery every second day, charging the battery for the first time was relatively quick, and the integral keyboard is large enough for comfortable touch typing.

Audio quality is extremely good and my tablet now holds my entire music collection. I'd say the quality is better than that from my Ipod. Camera is a joy to use, great resolution for photo and video, and there's plenty of editing software available on the tab.

Connecting to Broadband WiFi was simple and took a couple of minutes. I've had absolutely no problem with the network dropping, when used in the house, and generally the internet speed in good.

Make sure you shop around for the best price because it varies from place to place and you'll probably pick up a deal with a warranty included if you look around. Also; don't be tempted to buy a folio case/bluetooth keyboard unless it specifically states it's for the 2014 edition...they won't fit.

I don't have a complaint and my SONY laptop has been retired.

More than happy to recommend.

I paid £450 for this and it's worth every penny. The handwriting recognition has matured a lot in the past couple of years. I didn't like it much on the Note 2 but on the 10.1 2014 it's consistently good. Drawing is fun and precise. I haven't noticed any lag and I've been using it every day for the last four weeks. The screen is stunning, needs to be seen to be believed. The precision of the S-Pen gives a tablet so much more potential, for example I find I can browse full webpages with ease and not have to use the cut down versions that are tailored for phones and tablets.
All in all a great piece of kit which is a pleasure to use.

I got this tablet on a very good discount deal which made it preferable to upgrading my old iPad.

On first appearance, it has a lot of features that make it superior to the iPad - 64gb expandable memory, much louder stereo speakers, split screen, a slot for a SIM card so it can be used on 3G and as a mobile phone, flashbulb on the camera, office software, the attached pen, etc. Battery life is good

However, in use as a tablet, it has a lot of irritating issues - the screen seesaws between being oversensitive and completely unresponsive, it freezes a lot, it regularly loses contact with wifi, some of the apps only work when it's on wi-fi even when its not necessary, it often declines to search through my emails, and it often wont access the internet even wnen connected.

On balance, I'd say if you wanted a tablet that does everything a laptop does, this is a good buy. But if you use a tablet mainly for leisure activities, it's not your best bet.
