Digital Image Stabilisation: The camera makes thousands of adjustments a second, enabling you to take ultra clear images without blur – even in low light conditions. Face Detection: Each time you click, your camera automatically recognises if there is a face in the shot. It then optimises the focus and exposure of up to 11 faces for stunning, natural looking portraits and group shots. Blink Detection: this function detects when a subjects eyes are closed and triggers the camera to automatically take three shots in order to capture the eyes open. Smile Detection: ensures that no happy moments are missed by taking the shot automatically when smiles are detected. Photo Help Guide: If a problem is encountered during shooting, troubleshooting instructions are provided so that image correction can be easily performed by anybody. Step-by-step instructions with simple illustration on use of the camera are provided through the LCD for user’s convenience. The Recycle Bin Function allows you to retrieve images if you've accidently deleted them. Li-on Battery, in camera charging system: Charge the battery inside the camera from a standard electrical socket or alternatively straight from a USB port connected to your computer. No need for additional charger and offers greater user flexibility. The Beauty Shot function uses face detection technology to retouch the facial skin to appear brighter and to give the impression of a smoother skin tone. This can be done either while shooting or during playback.

I needed a good birthday gift for my wife. She has a large digital SLR that produces perfect images but is too bulky for everyday use. The ES55 produces images comparable to her top spec SLR and fits easily into her handbag. She loves the gift and takes it everywhere. The ES55 has all the features she needs and a few extras, eg instant cropping etc. Tight close-ups are pretty good too - good enough for family photos etc. The Amazon product description was spot on. i was given this camera as a birthday present and didnt really think much of it. It was'nt until i actually started using the camera i appreciated what a great camera this is! The amount of features were endless! Firstly, face detection. For a low budget camera, i was not expecting much. This camera managed to snap an image with nine people and recognised the faces of each. it is also capable of recognising up to 11 faces in one picture. My old £200 camera would not recognise more than three! Secondly, blink detection. I know to some people it must sound like a useless feature, but once you have tried it, its something you wont be able to live without. When you take an image, the camera lets you know if the person in the picture has blinked while the picture was taken and then gives you the option to re-take the image. Not even my friends £450 camera has a feature like that. Lastly, smile detection. smile and the camera will take an image. Excellent for using instead of a timer like many more expensive cameras have.
Not only because of its features is it a good camera, but the lens is also very good. Carrying a 10 mega pixel sensor, all you images would come out very clear, even when enlarging them to A3 size. The 2.5" LCD display is very bright, which is a huge benefit when under bright light. Overall, this camera is excellent value for money. If your after a decent camera at an amazing price, i would thoroughly reccommend this Samsung ES55.
