1. The phone always forgets what mode you use to enter texts. That might be fine for users who know T9 predictive txt, but I not got a soddin clue how to use it and so I prefer just to plod away as the slow ABC style.
2. If you acceently go to another screen, such as your phone book whilst texting, the phone forgets what you typed meaning you got to start off all over again
3. The fact that the only way (at time of wrting) to transfer pictures from the phone to camera is via an IRda dongle is a little naff as I don't have an IRda dongle for me desktop and at the min I have been forced to use the built in IRda on my dads laptop. I have heard that the release of a datacable is soon to hit the UK, but in honesty, for £220 I paid for the phone, this should be incorporated into the box.
4. Charging mechanisim could be better. Similar to that of my panaisonic GD67, the e700 has a little rubber cover which pops out when you want to charge the phone. This is a great idea as it keeps all the ports on the phone clean. But I can imagine this little rubber cover getting lost.
Beyond those factors I think the phone is really good.
Some really good points for you are:
1. Love the outter colour screen
2. Battery life is good when compared to other phones in same arena, such as the Moto V600, LG U8110, etc.
3. Screen is crisp and clear
4. For a camera phone, the camera is fairly good
5. Menu interface is simple to use
6. Feels well built.....mainly because it is well built.
7. Signal reception and audio quality is really good (with the exception if your ringing the 3 network, were you may notice a significant drop in audio quality. This is the 3 network through, I know this as my friend is on the 3 network)
theres a general jist of the phone. I think its really good.
Style: 4/5
Ease of use: 4/5
Functionality: 3/5 (doesn't play MP3's or video's...not that I care)
Network quality: 4/5 (Have unlocked phone and is now on Virgin)
Audio quality: 4/5
Battery life: 3/5 (my panasonic could go about 2 -3 weeks, e700 will go around 1 to 1.5 weeks)
Let's start with the blatantly obvious things first: this phone just looks terrific! The aesthetic standard and build quality are top-notch, resulting in a sturdy-looking and -feeling phone that perfectly houses its wealth of features. The phone is completely unisex, and I've seen both men and women happily using it. The design allows for a good grip whilst opening, browsing through and actually using the phone (once you figure out how to avoid the side volume/call reject and camera buttons). The dinky 'clamshell' design also means that you'll never have to worry about locking your keypad again.
The features of this phone are numerous and handy. Obviously it does the typical phone and text functions as well as any other phone, but the menu browsing system is quick and efficient (far simpler than that of my sister's Sony Ericsson T610), as well as fairly customizable. I'm still getting to grips with the hotkey shortcuts and I suppose that after I master these, navigation will be even easier.
The quality of the camera is superb for the size of the overall product. It rates far better than most other phones I've had experience with, though I imagine that the next-gen phones coming out now will probably be of a higher standard. Transferring the pictures to computer is said to be a tricky process (involving an IR dongle), but to be honest, it's something I don't see myself doing a lot of -- I have a proper camera for that.
More and more now, I'm using features like the organiser and alarm clock in the mornings, complete with a greater selection of alarm tones than you'd probably ever need.
Slight annoyances include the empty folder sounds (not sure if they can be deactivated) and the camera shutter sound (which can be turned off by means of a hidden menu -- search the web for solutions), but honestly, these can be overlooked considering the package as a whole.
Buying online was fast and painless (once you get over the slightly steep price -- though a good £35 cheaper than in shops) and once the phone arrives, you simply call up Orange, register it and stick on some credit. Simple!
