Good looking but far to complicated in use, I had a cable Vbox which was Samsung and so easy to use but why Samsung made this unit so mind blowing to operate is beyond me. I returned it and got a Panasonic which is more user friendly.

Sooo disappointed 11 Aug 2010

This product was such a let down, I though I could trust Samsung to deliver but how wrong I was! It's got too many faults to think of but here are a a few.

1. Why oh why does it have to be so noisy during DVD playback, I have a £30 DVD player from Tesco that is silent during playback so why does this one sound like a cement mixer!!

2. What a can of worms!! I've never had to faf around so much to actualy get a blank DVD formated ready for playback.

3. The digital display on the front is poorly lit and too small to see.

4. Mine was unable to record to DVD as it didn't have the correct software installed on it! so had to phone up samsung to get the wright software and then when it was installed didn't work anyway!!

5. The manual may as well be written in klingon. Also when phoning the help line I was told to do the opposite of what the manual said! FFS

6. It claims to uprate DVD's to HD or there abouts. Does it hell

8. You can't record something on Dvd and watch something on your hard drive at the same time!!

I SAVED UP ALL MY CHRISMAS MONEY FOR THIS RUBBISH!! I will never buy a Samsung product again.

I would have given this 0/5 if i could.

Inherited one of these recently - thankfully I didn't buy one - and although it looks good and has a 250GB drive, it doesn't seem to do the basics, either well, or at all. I have been using Humax boxes for several years and I like the simple, logical, menus and functions - so was surprised when I used the Samsung to find for example that you can't search the EPG for programmes to record (a basic requirement in my book), the recorded programmes on the HDD are not listed by name (so you just guess what you have recorded) and other oddities like the subtitles keep coming up. I guess these issues could be solved by a firmware update but I can't believe anyone would put a device like this on the market with these basic flaws - for goodness sake Samsung, just take a look at a 5 year old Humax to see how it should be done!! Dont buy this...
