Great little DVD player with lots of functionality at an unbelievable price. Out of box has a fixed region code but easily rectified. Seen a few different unlock codes but this is the one that works:
Using the remote that comes with the player
1- Power on
2- Open tray
3- Press "INFO"
4- Close tray
5- Wait for "No disc" then press INFO
6- Press "Repeat" (not the A-B one)
7- Press Fast Forward, Fast Reverse, Fast Forward, Up, Down
8- 0 should appear top right of screen.
9- Power Off
Using the remote that comes with the player

6- Press "Repeat" (not the A-B one)

I just unpacked my new Samsung DVD-H1080 and am delighted by its user friendliness and design. It did bug me a bit that it wasn't region free to begin with but having read some other reviews I hoped to find an unlock code.
Another one I found in the reviews on this site didn't work for me but with the following combination I am now able to enjoy my Region 1 DVDs once more:
(player bought in region 2 from this site - no firmware update installed)
* turn on the player without disc in the tray
* press repeat (not repeat a-b)
* press fast forward (button under the zoom-button)
* press fast rewind
* press fast forward
* press up
* press down
'0' appears in top right corner!

I purchased this stylish DVD player with a considerable discount on the best high street price.
I needed a small but discrete player to use with a smaller second tv and this fitted the bill but it would work very well in a main TV set up.
Picture quality is very good and it gives good reproduction of cds through my hi fi system.It was easy to set up and use. CD ripping is a very useful function.HDMI conection excellent but beware no scart which could limit use with older tv

Check for Compatibility with HDMI switches

complete waste of money
stopped recognising discs originals or copys as for the usb port unless they were perfect files to the specs the file could end up as much as 1 sec plus out of sync video/audio... Read more

Disappointing DivX Playback
I bought this to replace a Philips DVD player which I used mainly to playback DivX films and TV series from USB. The Samsung plays them ok but there are a few annoying niggles. Read more

almost perfect
