So far all looks good. It has a SCART socket, as well as phono plug output of left/right sound, component video and composite video, and HDMI.
I haven't tested the HDMI and upscaling yet, as I don't have an HD TV yet - this is a purchase with an eye to the future. It's working nicely sending RGB video through the SCART socket.
The remote is chunky but short. Nothing special either way.
It seems to remember play position on a DVD even after being turned off and on again.
I really bought it just as a DVD player, so I haven't tried out the USB socket yet.
It seems to have a multi-region hack:
Make sure there is no disc in the player.
Turn on the player
Wait for "No Disc" message to appear on the TV screen.
Press the Repeat button on remote (plain, not A-B).
For a region 2 player, i.e. like this one from Amazon UK, press this sequence of buttons of remote (FF = fast forward, FR = fast rewind.)
FF, FR, FF, UP, DOWN
If you pressed the correct sequence, a small white number 0 will appear somewhere on the top left of the screen.
Turn the player off and on again, and it should now be multi-region.

Neat looking little DVD player which we purchased to go with our new Samsung TV. Unfortunately it made a very loud whirring/clicking sound when playing, which was louder than the TV volume (we had to put TV on full volume to drown out the sound of the DVD player! Not practical...). Tried several different DVDs (to see if that was the problem), but same effect with all DVDs. So, unfortunately has gone back to Amazon (excellent service re. collection next day). Will keep looking for a DVD player with quieter operational noise (ideally one with no noise).

A good basic DVD player. I have a Samsung TV and this device links to it via the HDMI connection to semi-automate the selection of the DVD input. Pressing Play on the DVD remote automatically switches the TV to the DVD HDMI input. Also the two remotes are compatible with each other. Picture and sound quality are excellent and the player is all but silent in operation.

Very noisey for 40 Mins or so on start up.
Did have for nearly two weeks, but sent it back, as the forty minutes or so of noise each time you watch a DVD is just to annoying. Read more

Great little DVD player
This DVD player is a bargain. It looks really smart and works great. Some people's reviews talk about it being noisy but I cannot say I have noticed.

Too noisy
Found this DVD player to be very noisy when playing DVD's. Had to have the TV volume up high in an attempt to stop hearing the loud 'whirring' of the disc. Still could hear it. Read more
