A good basic DVD player. I have a Samsung TV and this device links to it via the HDMI connection to semi-automate the selection of the DVD input. Pressing Play on the DVD remote automatically switches the TV to the DVD HDMI input. Also the two remotes are compatible with each other. Picture and sound quality are excellent and the player is all but silent in operation.

This DVD player had everything going for it. Great price, known brand, great electronics, beutiful picture quality, and supplied with all cables in the box.

When I played the first disc - I thought - must be something wrong with this disc - there is so much noise. But no. It's the player.

I'm not talking about a slightly annoying bit of noise. I am talking about a constant whine from the spinning disc mixed in with clicks as the head tracks the surface. In all but the loudest passages of a movie, this noise is too loud to ignore.

It's such a pity because everything else is so good, but at the end of the day, the purpose of the device is enjoy watching DVDs. You cant enjoy them with that racket.

    Fail.

So far all looks good. It has a SCART socket, as well as phono plug output of left/right sound, component video and composite video, and HDMI.

I haven't tested the HDMI and upscaling yet, as I don't have an HD TV yet - this is a purchase with an eye to the future. It's working nicely sending RGB video through the SCART socket.

The remote is chunky but short. Nothing special either way.
It seems to remember play position on a DVD even after being turned off and on again.

I really bought it just as a DVD player, so I haven't tried out the USB socket yet.

It seems to have a multi-region hack:
Make sure there is no disc in the player.
    Turn on the player
Wait for "No Disc" message to appear on the TV screen.
Press the Repeat button on remote (plain, not A-B).
For a region 2 player, i.e. like this one from Amazon UK, press this sequence of buttons of remote (FF = fast forward, FR = fast rewind.)
    FF, FR, FF, UP, DOWN
If you pressed the correct sequence, a small white number 0 will appear somewhere on the top left of the screen.
Turn the player off and on again, and it should now be multi-region.
    Good luck!

Very impressed with this, paid £38, i no longer have to connect my laptop to the tv to play divx dvds etc, plays everything, haven't tried the multi region short cut yet, i can see why some people thin it is noisy, i noticed it once, but haven't since and am very happy with it, great size, easy to use remote, would recommend

I was quite dissapointed by this product. I found the player quite small, flimsy and cheap looking.
The biggest issue however was the well reported noise it makes when playing dvd's. It is a loud whirring and clicking noise, and it's simply unacceptable - even for the price. It is impossible to tune the noise out unless you turn on the tv volume quite loud, and eventually, it distracts frtom the viewing experience. I returned it pronto.

I just received this DVD player today, I couldn't get the HDMI to work although this is no big issue to me, I wanted a player that could play movies etc through the USB stick (16mb) don't think it could play anything larger but I haven't tried. I have also been able to make it region free as I have hundreds of discs in alot of different regions. On another web site people were saying that after they made it region free it would no longer play the USB this hasn't been an issue for me as mine will play region 1, 2 and 4 as well as still playing USB.

Also on the noise issue that some customers have been complaining about cant say I noticed anything at all, I had to put my ear close to it to hear any noise at all. It seems to be a fantastic wee player That I would recommend to anyone. It also has a counter on the front showing how long it has been on for and it also seems to remember where it was after it was turned off. I cannot say a bad word against it, I am very happy with it.

Found this DVD player to be very noisy when playing DVD's. Had to have the TV volume up high in an attempt to stop hearing the loud 'whirring' of the disc. Still could hear it. Returned and now buying a SONY instead.

AN EXCELLENT ALL ROUND PLAYER AND CAN RECOMEND THIS ITEM TO ONE AND ALL.
AND DEFINATELY WELL WORTH THE PRICE BEEN ASKED AT THIS TIME.
