Class leading phone - all you could ever need, 3 Aug 2007
This is a fantastic phone and still holds it's own. All the standard phone features are as you would expect from a modern mobile phone so there is nothing unusual to report in that department.
Where this phone adds value is in the excellent camera and video recorder. The quality of the photo's really is top draw with the picture being both bright and sharp. No need to worry about shutter lag either - when you snap shutter you get the picture you expect. Video quality is also impressive as you get to choose the size of the image and the file size so sending a video via MMS is now very easy.
Where Samsung have really seen the light is by adding an external memory card. For about £10 on Amazon you can now get a 1Gb microSD card to store all your images and videos on - and then easily tranfer them to your PC through a card reader. No more sending files by Bluetooth!!
I have an ipod so I haven't used the music player much, but it all seems logical enough, but nothing is going to replace an ipod in the near future
All said and done this is a very high spec phone, looks great, handles great and has all the features I could need in a mobile phone.

Good, but there's a few niggles., 10 Sep 2007
I bought this phone on the basis of a few things. Firstly, the 3 megapixel camera was highly appealing, I like the look of these sliding phones and this one inparticular was very thin and light.
The phone looks excellent in the matted black finish with the shiny black framing the screen. It looks better in real life than in the pictures. When held in the hand the slightly rubbery texture gives a sense of solidarity to the phone despite being so thin. The sliding mechanism is smooth and easy to operate with one hand and reveals the camera at the top of the phone.
The screen is bright and of a high resolution, colours appear vibrant, it can't really be any better. The button layout is good, though you can occasionally press the WAP button without meaning to do so. The buttons give a good solid click when pressed. Aesthetically this phone is excellent.
The camera is of a high resolution, however it is let down by terrible shutter lag so you can end up taking a photo, thinking it has taken the photo you move the phone leaving you with a blur instead. This added to the fact that it only has a bright light for a flash unlike a xenon 'proper' flash like the Sony Ericsson cybershot phones makes this quite a mediocore phone for taking pictures. The video recorder is better than the camera with good sound quality recording.
The menu system is very good, clear and simple to use. The phone memory is limited and may only hold 5 songs and 40 photos at their highest resolution, however this memory can be expanded by a Micro SD card.
The quality of voice calls is good. The WAP system is clear to use and the bright screen helps in displaying all the information. There is no 3G compatibility.
The battery life is not as good as other rival makes. After being fully charged it will last on standby for about 4 days, however making a call or playing music seems to use huge amounts of energy. If you use this phone regularly for taking pictures or listening to music on the go you will find yourself charging it every night.
All in all this is an exellent phone let down by having a mediocore camera despite its high resolution and short battery life when fully charged.

Slim, sleek, Samsung- the perfect combination!, 17 Aug 2007
I bought this phone last Christmas, hoping to get a phone which not only looked nice, but had a few cool features on it too. When I first got it, I started doubting my purchase- would this tiny thing last? Would it have terrible features and a camera not worth being there?
I couldn't have been more wrong.
Good Points:
1. Looks good-> and this time, looks aren't deceptive
2. Pretty good camera- 3MP! And all that in this tiny thing...
3. Durable. Wow. First mobile I've bought that doesn't scratch in about a day.
4. Good functions- mp3 player, voice recorder, 10 games (albeit only 4 are any good).
5. Easy to use. In my opinion, the new Nokia when it comes to simplicity.
Bad points:
1. Continues the old Samsung tradition of making the contacts load only after you've died for 100 years.
2. Internet is wick.
3. Not a lot of internal memory for things that matter- music and images.
Overall, this phone is a good choice. Can get a bit annoying at times with the contacts, but it does its job and looks good at the same time.
*I'd advise you to buy an iPod nano cover for this- it fits OK and prevents unnecessary stratches.*
