This is a great little device. Just pop your phone onto it and it will charge your phone. From a completely flat battery to full charge took around 3.5 hours on this device (I charged it to approx 50% with the phone on, then switched the phone off) which is faster than the charge time on my old phone. I have never charged this phone by plugging the wire into the micro-usb port. In fact, I have only opened the micro-usb port cover once, and it seems quite flimsy and I don't think it would last long if I opened it each day to charge it.
The reason I am giving if four stars is because it can be a little tricky to place it in the exact position - you know when you get the position right as the green light comes on.
Some reviewers state that their phones become hot on using this charger. Mine becomes warm, but not hot.
Note: in order to use this device, you must change your back cover to a wireless cover (which come with or without an S-View front case/cover) - see "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought" for the ones on offer.

I bought this unit for two reasons. Firstly and most importantly, I cannot believe that the cover on the charging socket on the phone will not eventually fall off in use. I know it is fixed the way it is to provide a watertight seal but everything tells me the plastic tag will degrade and fail. So I wanted a way of charging which means I never have to remove the cover unless I want to connect the phone to my PC. Secondly, because it is possible. I mean: wireless charging, how cool it that!?

Worth point out two things. Firstly, the pictures do not communicate the size of this device. I was pleasantly surprised to find it small and therefore does not take up much space (about half the length of the back of the phone). You have to place the phone so it is below the middle of it. Green light indicates charge - amber that it is charged. It seems that the charging will cut out once full charge is reached (I was a bit concerned initially that it would continue to create heat if the phone was left on the charger all night - and it does generate a lot of heat!).

Was a little bit doubtful as its much smaller than the phone. But it works fine, its less fussy about placement that cheaper chargers, and charges the phone to 100% and keeps it there.
The LED isn't too bright and works.

So on the upside: this works, and charging your phone "by magic" is exactly as cool as it sounds. It makes marginally longer to charge, but if you've got an S5 it'll probably save you time in the long run because you don't have to keep opening the waterproof seal at the bottom of your phone. Plus, this charger uses the Qi standard so it'll be compatible with lots of other inductive-charging devices now and in the future.

Unfortunately I've found that it's quite fussy about where exactly you have to place the phone in order to make contact. A centimetre or two out from the ideal spot and the phone keeps losing the connection and then regaining it, causing it to beep and the screen to flash (which isn't much use if you're trying to sleep!). The upper surface of the charging pad doesn't have much grip and is convex in shape, so it's very easy to knock your phone off the ideal spot, too. And while it's reasonably price, it still feels a little cheap that it doesn't come with a power supply of it's own (you have to use the one that came with your phone).

All-in-all, I wouldn't recommend this, even though it "works": there are probably better devices out there.

I bought one of these along with an s-view wireless charging case when I got my S5. Fitted the case, plugged the lead and charger that came with the phone into this pad and plonked the phone on it. The green light came on and the phone beeped to notify that it was charging. Perfect I thought and promptly went to bed. Next morning I came down to find the Orange LED blinking and the phone showing about 80% charge. Over the next few days I tried various things to get it to work properly but sadly this wasn't to be. It would charge to 100% and keep it there for a while before then deciding that there was a problem and stop charging, causing the Orange LED to blink until I picked up the phone and put it down again, at which point the whole cycle would start again. Sometimes (more frequently as time went on) it wouldn't even get to 100% before it stopped charging. I contacted Amazon and they arranged for both the case and charging pad to be replaced (well done Amazon!).

Sadly, the replacements showed exactly the same behaviour. At this point I thought "maybe it's me" as the odds of two units being defective had to be pretty low so I hung onto them and persevered in trying to make it work. Over the last few months I've tried different usb leads, different usb chargers (including the one the came with my iPad Air 2), placing the phone on it in different positions, different wall sockets and hours of googling to find a solution. In the end I have had to admit defeat, I want a solution that allows me to place my phone on it every evening and pick it up in the morning with a full charge, this wasn't it.

I contacted Samsung last week to see if they could help me, they didn't have a clue so advised me to contact Amazon.
