I looked around a lot for different MF printers. The first decision was to go for a laser or inkjet MF. I personally don't use my printer a lot so I always had bad experiences with inkjets. The ink will dry up, pay a lot in stupid ink cartridges, quality issues, speed, etc. You certainly have to pay a bit more to get to the laser colour ladder, but it's really worth it. I have been my using Samsung CLX-3175FN for the last few months quite frequently and I checked the toners today in the Web Console and they still are at 65%. I would probably would have had replaced ink cartridges already if I was using an inkjet. Here is my overall summary:

Pros:

- Laser colour, no Mickey Mouse inkjet!
- Very compact, namely the world's smallest multi-function colour laser.
- Stylish (I hate the look of the HP MFs!) and nice non-hardware colour.
- Not too noisy.
- Decent print speeds even coming out of power save mode.
- Good software package, haven't found any issues with it.
- Easy to use printer menus (I changed few settings without having to resort to reading the manual).
- ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) to scan/copy/fax documents.
- Networked.
- Love the sound when a print is finished.


Cons:

- No duplexer.
- Paper tray can hold only 150 sheets but I guess you can't have a 500 sheet tray on a compact printer.
- No wireless and the wireless version are a bit pricey (although I got mine next to my home network switch so not an issue for me!).
- Printer speeds could be better.

All in all this not the best quality colour laser nor the fastest but it does both of them nicely. Probably the best compact/stylish multi-function colour laser you can get, if you value space and design as much as performance.

This is a good all rounder - jack of all trades but master of none.

All it's functions ( printing, scanning, copying and faxing ) it does to an acceptable level - not out of this world but more than good enough for most small offices.

For the price it's a bit of a bargain given all that it does. It's fairly easy to use and easy to install on Windows Vista 64 bit and comes with good software.

Print quality of text is good - though some small faults. It prints out photos well but not photographic quality.

Other big advantage is size - nice and compact and won't give you a hernia lifting it.

Also being a Laser printer the ink doesnt dry out as it did on my Canon inkjet - despite not printing that much ( average 10 letters a month ) I got through cartridges at an amazing rate!

The Samsung looks great in black and is very compact condidering all its features. The colour quality is very good but don't expect the same standard as a good quality Inkjet, The negative things I found were to do with paper jamming - if you dont fan the paper several times when loading into the cassette it jams easily. If you use a 100g + paper it needs to be set up or again it can jam. I have other laser printers at work but overall based on speed, price and quality this machine is difficult to beat!!
