This product has a lighting sensor inside to recognise when the level of waste toner reaches at certain level.

However, for any reason, if the printer/waste toner bottle is shaken or dropped down while it has some waste toner inside, the moved toner may cover the lighting sensor and it triggers a signal for the printer to stop working.
So, when you replace your drum unit, or when any paper is jammed inside of your printer, you need to be careful if you have to remove the waste toner bottle especially when it has a lot of waste toner inside. Never leave it lied down on the floor nor dropped down. Gently remove and leave it somewhere securely and keep standing position during the job and put the bottle back gently.

If you understand how the waste toner bottle sensor works, you may suck the waste toner using your vacuum cleaner when it says to replace the toner bottle, and clean the lighting sensor using cotton stick, then it will start working again. In this case, you will need a good protection for your health. Good dust mask, vinyl glove and good vacuum cleaner would help.

The waste toner bottle does not have any page counter, so, it may work for under 7k pages or above 10k pages completely depends on what type of documents/images you print.

Update 23/5/2013 I'm now on my 4th tank and just checked the Imaging Unit count and it reads 8308. I've just had to order another tank because I'm concerned that the current one will register as full any time now. I had an E-mail exchange with Samsung, and they agreed to take the machine away to look at the sensor that controls the tank - Only problem is that they outsource the work and have no mechanism in place to offer a replacement whilst they have your machine. At this time of year it's impossible for me to be without a machine even for 1 day, so I had to decline their offer. No acceptance on their part that there may be a valid fault with the machine or component, no offer of compensation, generally poor back-up. Samsung have made huge advances in grabbing share of market, but in my experience they fail to deliver an adequate support service. So this will be the last Samsung machine I buy. I don't imagine Samsung will lose any sleep over me moving to a competitor, but my experience is that large Corporate organisations only start to take notice when people begin to vote with their feet!

Update 25/3/2013 - I've just had to install yet another tank in my CLX-3305. I'm now on my third tank and the imaging unit is only reading 3974.
It is clear that the tanks only last 2000 B & W pages - nowhere near the number that Samsung claim. I'm not happy and will be having a dialogue with them.

I was forced to buy this tank because the one supplied with the machine expired after 1900 images. I now consider myself a semi-expert on Samsung machines, (having had a couple) and I complained to them that this tank expired at less than 2000 images when they claim 5000 - 7000 should be expected.
They suggested that it was because I was printing in colour.

As long as you do not move the printer or do
not shake the waste toner bottle if any waste toner is inside of this bottle, this will work ok until its end of life. But if shaken, it will stop working. Be carefu with it.

Does exactly was described on the box - however, it is a con from the Samsung manufactures of the laser printers - just a ploy to make more money rather than allowing the toner waste receptacle from being emptied manually particularly as this stops the printer from working - very frustrating for a business.

Annoyed that the original fell out when changing toner cart making a big toner mess, and then printer wouldn't work after I emptied it and put it back. But this one was good price and worked - just make doubly sure that you get the right one for your printer - I didn't at first.
