5.0 out of 5 stars nice little player 23 July 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
The only con I can see is that you have to make it region free yourself
This is a little tricky to do just follow these steps

1. Ensure that there is no disk in the tray.
2. Switch the player off and then back on. This is necessary to clean-boot the firmware.
3. Wait until the main menu page appears and the player stops doing anything.
4. Press the eject button to open the tray. (The button is between the "Power" and "TV Power" buttons at the top of the controller.)
5. Press the eject button to close the tray.
6. Wait while the player searches for a disk.
7. As soon as the "No Disk" message appears at the top left corner do the following.
8. Press the REPEAT button - just above the TV channel selector at the bottom right of the controller.
9. Enter 57538 on the number pad.
10. The region code "2" should appear at the top left corner of the screen.(this just flashed on then off, so keep an eye on the screen)
11. Enter a "9" to make the player region free.
12. Power down and power up again.
13. Play a foreign DVD to verify the change

You will find that you most probably not do it on the 1st try but keep on trying and you will get it to work.
Once done you will find that you will love this blu-ray player.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good player 1 Aug 2011
By Esofagus TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
This is my first Blu-Ray player so I can't compare it to anything else, but I can certainly say that it seems to be very good. I bought it at the same time I purchased Samsung UE46D5520 46-inch Widescreen Full HD 1080p 100Hz LED SMART Internet TV with Freeview HD - Charcoal Blackand Samsung HW-D450 Airtrack 2.1ch Home Cinema System. It was very easy to set up, but it's worth remembering that no HDMI cable is provided with the player and therefore it's a good idea to buy one in advance - I can recommend this one 1.5METER PRO GOLD RED (1.4a Version, 3D, 15.2Gbps) HDMI TO HDMI CABLE WITH ETHERNET,COMPATIBLE WITH 1.3c,1.3b,1.3,1080P,PS3,XBOX 360,SKYHD,VIRGIN BOX,FULL HD LCD,PLASMA & LED TV's AND ALSO SUPPORTS 3D TVS. - don't let any salesman talk you into shelling out a fortune for an HDMI cable.

I had been warned by a friend that Blu-Ray discs may take a while to load, however I am happy to report that it really does not take that long on this machine, perhaps only a few seconds longer than for a standard DVD.

The only slight negative comment I have is that the player is a little bit noisy; it is not always noticeable - but it is certainly noisier than my old DVD player.

I have yet to test the various internet facilities; I upgraded the firmware via an ethernet cable (not supplied) as I didn't see the point of buying the USB WiFi dongle. I did try to perform the upgrade via a standard USB stick, having downloaded the file from my computer; however that hadn't worked, so I went the ethernet route.

Overall I am very happy with this player and I would recommend it.
