5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent phone 9 Dec 2010
I have ben using this for a couple of weeks and it performs very well. Very good signal strength even in difficult areas. Very good display, the menus are logical and easy to use. The size of the screen limits internet use, GPS etc. but they all work. This is really built for talking and texting, everything else is a bonus. The keypad is particually good, even with gloves. It has large keys and a good 'rubber' type feel that makes it a pleasure to use.

It does not feel as solid as the B2100 which I had previously. That said it appears to be very rugged and should with stand a hard working life. The torch and cord loop are useful.

Overall nothing negative to say about this phone. If you primarily want to talk and text and have an easy to use phone with a good keyboard that can withstand the odd bit of harsh treatment then here is your phone. The battery has lasted a couple of weeks switched on 24/7 with light voice use and loads of texting. A worthwhile addition to the Samsung range.

2.0 out of 5 stars Samsung B2710 Sim-free Unbranded Black 22 April 2011

I purchased the B2710 for its robust qualities rather than functionality. The mobile feels robust with a rubberised case and is supposed to be waterproof (as long as micro usb charging cover on side is closed), have'nt tried this feature !. The phone also has a very useful led torch which considering its a phone is very bright.

On the negative side the processor on the phone does not seem up to the job as there is a delay of 1/2 seconds on pressing a key before any activity takes place, this is really frustrating if you are in a hurry. Emails take ages to come down. The KIES software for backing up contacts etc does not recognise when the phone is connected to PC(Vista home) Laptop(Windows 7) so is completely hopeless (several comments re this on web).

Summary great if you want a robust phone and don't use it a lot.

3.0 out of 5 stars Tough phone? 8 Mar 2014
By Gurphy
I bought this phone because I can't find a really practical phone for my needs. It just isn't manufactured. So I bought this thing. I've had this phone for a year or so now. It's not too bad. Calls are clear and it can withstand heavy rain and a few light knocks. The keypad is backlit quite well. The torch I've found to be quite handy though if they'd dumped the stupid little camera it could have been a lot better. It's not unpleasant to use and has a good grip. It has a compass that is accurate. It's sturdy but while water-proof and dust-proof it will break if dropped because it's not light and it's not strong enough.

It has several features that are unnecessary to say the least. Internet access on a screen this size is just a bad joke and far more frustrating that it is practical. Text messaging is boring in the extreme as there's no qwerty keypad. The web access, camera/video is just redundant as far as I'm concerned. Don't people have computers at home? What nitwit goes out to watch videos on a screen the size of a postage stamp. Get a life already.

I had a Nokia prior to this, which without any software found that phone, allowing me to upload required files to the memory card. No such simplicity with the Samsung however, and If your looking to upload songs or movies from your pc to its memory card, then this is not the phone for you.

Your pc will not recognize this phone just by plugging it into a usb port. In fact the chances are that your pc will not recognize this phone full-stop. You will have at the very least to download Samsung Kies, the worst phone software on the face of the planet. This is not a joke. It's a fact. If after installing Kies your pc manages to find your phone you'll be one in a million.
