Firstly very easy and quick to set up (3 pieces slide together easily) and worked instantly on Windows 7 without needing to manually install drivers.
Default brightness was a little too high for normal use (viewing ~2ft from screen), but is perfect at 90% and it's good to have the option of increasing brightness for watching movies/console games from further away. Colour and saturation settings are also changed by the touch-panel interface beneath the screen which is a nice touch, if a little slow for input. The disc included with the monitor has software that you can use to change all the monitor brightness/colour settings and calibrate it correctly without using the near invisible touch-buttons (which again is a great feature - no visible buttons on the monitor body makes it much cleaner and less distracting from the screen)
I initially set the monitor up using the included VGA cable (It doesn't come with DVI or HDMI cables) which unfortunately produced very faint but noticeable vertical lines throughout the screen at 1920x1080 resolution (possibly due to the VGA to DVI adapter I use on the graphics card end causing interference). I've since bought a DVI to DVI cable and after replacing the VGA the lines have disappeared completely, leaving a very sharp and crisp picture with excellent definition and colour. A DVI cable is ideal since the monitor doesn't have in-built speakers so HDMI isn't required (picture quality is identical with DVI/HDMI), and also leaves the HDMI socket free for use with a console.
The monitor body is made to a very high standard and solidly built with a faint blue "power on" light, and again the buttons are touch-sensitive and built into the monitor body so don't protrude at all and are only labelled with small font icons beneath them.
Overall 5 stars mainly due to the picture quality - Excellent colour and saturation under the mode-settings (Custom, Game, Movie, etc) and excellent definition and image sharpness, and an excellent size for normal PC use. (Upsizing from a 19" to the 24" is great).

A great monitor from Samsung. Looks beautiful and has a crisp and clear image. Colours are pretty good for a TN panel and the screen is lovely and bright - great response time too, so perfect for games and movies. At this price there are some alternative monitors from other manufacturers, but the build quality of the B2430 is fantastic and it feels like a much more expensive model.

I'm a big fan of Samsung monitors and this one was an upgrade to give me HDMI support. Setup was easy, picture quality is clear and sharp on both DVI and HDMI ports which I use. I have it working in conjunction with a second screen on my PC and connected to a Xbox 360 via the HDMI port. For a 24" screen this is very light in comparison to my old screen. I like the idea of the touch controls on the front and the easier access to the import ports on the back. I thought the stand would make the monitor a little unstable but it appears to work well on my desk which takes the odd bump from my legs or the chair from time to time.
The supplied cables do not include a DVI cable which is a shame but include a 2pin mains lead, this is as useful as a chocolate teapot for use in the UK.
Overall I'm very pleased and also pleased with the great customer service from Amazon who this monitor was bought from.

Lasted for a year and ten days
I ordered one of these from Amazon on 04.03.11. On 24.03.12 the screen went white and that was it as far as I can tell. Will not be buying any more samsung products. Read more
