I havent put this in my pc yet, but some comments.
The box was very small and flat, previous samsung ssd's came with accessories, I own 2 830s and one came with a usb to ssd cable (good for migrating or general external use) and the other came with a 3.5inch plate. This drive comes with neither. Not a big deal for me as I can use the cable from the 830 to migrate data but its worth putting here to warn others.
There is nothing wrong with my 2 128gig 830s, I got one in my laptop (excellent upgrade from 5400rpm hdd) and one in this pc, but I decided I want a bigger ssd so I can put games on it as well, so I got this one which should have great endurance due to the new type of v-nand as well as great performance. When I install it and have ran tests etc. will update this review.

--edit--

Am now using the ssd and it works excellent. Probably the best SATA SSD on the market.

I have just replaced by HDD 1.5Tb disk in a HPE-480 Tower with this Samsung SSD. I also purchased the SATA cables and disk tray convertor. The whole operations was so easy. I installed it into the tower into the 2nd bay. Installed the Software and cloned the System disk to the new SSD. Then switched on the SATA cables and hey presto the SSD was now my system disk. My motherboard did not accept SATA3 so it auto downgraded to SATA2, but it was not an issue. I took timings before and after the switch. Before the switch using my HDD from power on via Windows 7 logon screen and MS Outlook up and running it took 10.25 mins. After the switch and now using the SSD, the same process took 50 seconds. Its unbelievable. Everything runs in seconds. My PC is 4 years old and now it is running faster than when I first built it out of the box on day 1. My HDD is now a massive data disk, which I have partitioned for Windows Backups and Acronis Image backups. No other change to my tired PC could have had such a massive improvement impact. Imagine what it would have been like if the Motherboard had supported SATA3. Wow!

Added this into a 21.5 " Apple Imac, WOW, what a difference.
Although fitting as a second drive in an Imac is a tad harder than a normal PC it absolutely transformed the speed of the machine, i cant recommend this enough, worth every penny

I had a process running on a PC to convert a very large amount of data to a SQL server database. Processing took a total of 28 hours on a good conventional drive. Replaced with one of these and the time fell to 7 hours. This is a fantastic drive.

Excellent even compared to gen 1 SSD's you see a big leap in speed , I kept this at 4 stars as its not cheap for the capacity
The warranty on this 850 series is excellent and you really need to look at these drives as an investment that will move with your
IT and possible have different uses over time Primary 1st ... them a drive to carry for backup
The Software tool looks well sorted to upgrade firmware and look in on the drive when required.
Drive is 7mm Thick

The 840 range is better value and I have a few of these and no bad things to say

An exceptional item. Easy to install and Samsung's supplied software made it easy to migrate and set optimum performance features. I've been wary of SSD's reliability until now but Samsung are confident enough to offer a 10 year guarantee. Boot/shutdown and access times are so much faster than a mechanical hard drive as to bear no comparison. Only four stars as it's very pricey and Amazon were incredibly slow sending it even though it was in stock when ordered.

Fantastic SSD.

I bought this SSD because my old one decided to break itself on Sunday. I lost a lot of data on it because I put my computer into sleep and the SSD went into panic lock and never woke up again. This is an expensive product as I got the 512GB version. This is plenty of space for all of my games and all of the University work I need to store on it.

The SSD comes nicely packaged with stickers for your computer case, should you want to decorate it. It is very light and energy-efficient. It runs really cool as well which is good for my build. In the package you get Samsung Magician software which includes a data migration kit. But since my old SSD died, I didn't use that. I do however use the other half of the software that is dedicated to showing the health status of the SSD and other important information. You can also optimise your SSD by changing some system settings. I followed this and although I cannot see a great change, I am sure it has done something.

Now, the performance:

This SSD is fully SATA III whereas my old one was SATA II. The speed difference is very noticeable as the read and write speeds are much higher. Windows 7, even with a lot of software on two drives (one SSD and a 1TB HDD), I see no problems booting Windows extremely quickly. Not much change from my old SSD but it;s obviously a bit better.

Since the old SSD was OCZ, and they went bust, I decided to go with a company I know is strong and I trust. I immediately went with Samsung because I have their smart phones and I have had their laptops too. They always product great quality products and this SSD has a nice warranty with it.

If anything changes I will be sure to update my review on here.
