Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Inspired by the craftsmanship of Venetian glassblowers, the T260 is the embodiment of Samsung's design philosophy - natural beauty that defies standardisation. Unlike other monitors on the market today, Samsung are just as concerned about how a monitor performs as well as it looks. The unique crystal-like frame is both transparent and opaque, giving the monitor a handcrafted feel. The smooth clean lines and variety of colors will make this monitor the centerpiece of any room in your home - no matter how sophisticated it may be. The T260 from Samsung redefines the meaning of slim. This elegantly designed, ultra-thin monitor comes fully equipped with the latest in LCD technology - all packaged within a sleek, sophisticated frame. The reduced bezel width produces a slimmer profile so that every inch of your workspace is maximised.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great all round big screen monitor, but it does have its flaws., 28 Mar 2009
I'm not going to talk too much about the picture quality here as it's been said many times before. However I will say that's I find the whites a little odd. Everything seems to have a peculiar tint to it. It's probably just me not setting the monitor up properly, but after a lot of playing around with the various settings I haven't been able to get anything which looks right. This made me think perhaps I should go back to my 20" NEC. But a couple of weeks using a 26" monitor and I don't think I could ever go back now.
The design of the monitor is simply stunning. Making all other monitors look very out of date by comparison and of course the price is very competitive for this size of monitor. Bit of a finger print magnet perhaps, but that's easily resolved - don't touch it!

However it's not all good, as there are a annoying amount of 'niggles'. The controls for example are nicely hidden away out of view, but this makes them a little awkward to use. It's a little slow at realising that you've turned the computer off and putting the monitor into standby. Insisting on checking each socket several times for a signal first. The stand is a swivel and tilt type only, no height adjustment. Most annoying of all are the USB ports. There are only two, and both are really badly placed right at the back of the screen. I'd gotten used to having a couple of ports on the side of the screen. Looks like I'll have to invest in a external hub.

I've read some reviews complaining that there's no speakers, tuner or remote control!? This doesn't make sense to me. Why criticize a monitor for not being a TV? Features like these have to be paid for and while they look good on the advertising blurb, are only actually used by a very small number of users.

Ultimately I am very happy with my new monitor. It's not perfect and there are better 26" screens out there. But they cost far more. With this in mind if I had to buy another monitor right now, it would be with this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Check Samsung's dead pixel policy before buying, 29 April 2009
By J Basser (Yorkshire, UK) - See all my reviews
I may be a bit harsh with the low scoring, as generally speaking the monitor is OK. Good colour, a bit dull with some images, though overall it's not too bad.

My main problem is that I was unlucky enough to receive a T260 with a dead pixel. It wasn't a major disaster, just a bit annoying.

I phoned Samsung's "tech helpline" and they said that it's made to an ISO standard which allows manufacturers to make screens with a few dead pixels. I don't know the exact number of dead pixels allowed, though this was the first I'd heard of any such standard. Anyway, Samsung said that they would not replace it and there was nothing I could do about it. They're not exactly charmers over the phone either. The guys on the phone make it seem like it's your tough luck for buying one of their dud monitors.

In conclusion, I won't buy anything made by Samsung again. And there are certainly better monitors out there for a similar price. Oh, and the stand for the T260 is very wobbly.

Luckily, the supplier (not Samsung, but an independent internet retailer) I bought the dud screen from were good enough to collect the screen from me at no extra cost, then they refunded my credit card with the original cost of the screen. Hooray for distance selling regulations!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Screen - but don't bother with the HDMI lead, 20 May 2009
By Mr. P. Thomas (Wales) - See all my reviews
    (REAL NAME)
I had a Samsung 26" TV with resolution of 1250 x 750, which I used only as a PC monitor and decided to change to a higher resolution monitor. I bought the HDMI lead which others have bought with this screen but I wouldn't bother if you are only connecting a PC to it, as it comes with a DVI to DVI lead which is perfect. I'm glad I upgraded the screen as it is crystal clear and has made a big difference in games, (I have a Nvidia 8800 GTS 512) now running at 1900 x 1200. Great screen, great price.
