I took delivery of the yesterday of the Samsung 2443BW 24" Widescreen Monitor.
My previous monitor was a HP 22" 1,680 x 1,050 Monitor, and I was looking for the much higher resolution of a 24" and most of the monitors that were reviewed anywhere on the Net, cost at least £300. Well I found the Samsung, but I couldn't find any reviews anywhere on the Net, so convincing myself that no news was good news(!), I (unusually for me) took a chance, and ordered it, WITHOUT reading any glowing reviews of it. I have to say, it IS without doubt the best monitor (within the obvious limits of being a TN, but you'd have to pay at least three times as much for a NON-TN), I've ever had, and one of the very cheapest 24" inch monitors around. The resolution, clarity, sharpness, brightness, contrast is absolutely perfect (and no dead pixels). And it LOOKS cool too! It's ALL black and has a REALLY thin bezel, the thinnest I've seen, around it,the only light is a really small blue light at the bottom right of the screen, the touch sensitive buttons and menus are all fine & functional, especially considering they're not something you have to adjust frequently anyway, and the screen is non-reflective, not like the latest fad (Like HP) of putting glossy shiny coatings on the screen, which make it far easier, in daylight, to brush your hair in the reflection, than it is to see what's on the screen. It's also got the best really solid ("HAS Stand")stand I've ever seen on a monitor that rotates, elevates, tilts and pivots.
And HERE is THE coolest thing about it, and I KNEW it did this when I ordered it, but I just thought it was a gimmick I would never use, but the screen actually rotates 90 degrees into portrait mode (adjusting automatically when you turn the monitor, with supplied software), giving it a resolution of 1,200 wide, and 1,920 tall, and it's absolutely brilliant for web surfing (WHOLE pages, no more scrolling either way!), Photoshop, Word documents, spreadsheets, and particularly for long rambling emails, letters, and monitor reviews. I can't enthuse enough about how brilliant it is to have that facility now that I am actually using it.
One thing is that although it has the resolution for Blu-Ray and games consoles, I'm not certain if it has the correct inputs for either of those (It doesn't have HDMI like other monitors), you would have to check, as it wasn't one of my requirements; all I wanted was a really good PC Monitor, and I GOT a REALLY good PC Monitor. It does have DVI and RGB inputs, mine being on the DVI. I would say is that the 2443NW is usually cheaper than the 2443BW, but it doesn't have a digital DVI input like the 2443BW, only the Analogue RGB, if that is something you require.
So in summary, one of the best purchases I have ever made. I'm no 'connoisseur' of monitors, and maybe if I used an £800 24" non-TN monitor, I would feel differently about this one, but I'm quite discerning when choosing something I seem to spend most of my life staring at, and for the price, I would therefore have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the Samsung 2443BW 24" Monitor.
