I use this card for readyboost in my Windows 7 PC. For those that don't know readyboost (which uses random read/write) places very different demands on Flash cards compared to a camera (which uses serial read/write).
I tried several cards including a Sandisk Extreme III class 10 card (twice the price), but this samsung class 6 card gave the best performance with readyboost. Formatted as NTFS (required for readyboost use above 4GB) performance in my PC is about 6.5Mb/s random read and 5.5MB/s random write.
An excellent card that outperformed a leading class 10 card at twice the price for NTFS random read/write (readyboost).

This has possibly made my external hard-drive redundant, which is amazing for such a tiny device. Of primary concern to me is the protection of images, and this SD card can store about 1900 jpegs of 8mp each. Alternatively, it could store 3800 music tracks (assuming 4 minutes each at 128kbps MP3), or 63 films based on MPEG4 QVGA video at 384kbps. Extraordinary for something so small and convenient. Transfer is fast, too - it has a 'Class 6' rating which means a minimum DTR of 6 MB/second, three times as fast as a Class 2 for example. It's reassuringly tough and durable, being able to protect its storage against water damage for up to 24 hours' full immersion. It is further protected by a rubber carrying case which increases its overall size in all three dimensions slightly, and comes with a handy carrying cord. The rubber case is light grey and while it is obviously built to last I personally would have preferred a brighter colour so as to be able to find it in a hurry. The memory card itself is further resistant to magnetic exposure and X-rays, and can withstand forceful impact and high pressure. It works at temperatures as low as -25 degrees C, and as high as 85 degrees C.
While being relatively pricey for a 16GB SDHC memory card (compared to similar Class 6 devices from Transcend and Inov8) I would prefer to pay a little bit extra for a name I have heard of, the obvious durability and the benefit of a 10-year guarantee. You get what you pay for.

Hmmm what can one make of an SD card finished in brushed aluminium, that will survive being run over by a 1.6tonne vehicle and 24 hours of immersion in water? If that's not enough to float your boat, then what about being resistant to a magnetic field of 4000 gauss or capable of 10000 'mating cycles'??!
If you are a complete technogeek or a budding James Bond, then no doubt the preceding info will enable you to sleep easier knowing that your 'top secret' data will be safe from the ever complicated attacks of SPECTRE, but to your average Joe all you need to know is that it won't break if you stand on it, or stick it through the washing machine with your wallet. Having said that, the 10000 mating-cycles is impressive, even if verging on the techno-erotic....(sorry been married too long!) Still, it's nice to know that if you were unlucky enough to fall off a cross- channel ferry, before getting run over by a Toyota Prius after making it back to Dover, your sd card will survive, even if you do pop your clogs in the MRI scanner at the local hospital....
On a more serious note the write/read speeds are excellent 15mb/s and 20mb/s respectively and the little rubber case that it comes with is quite snazzy. All in all if you want a bombproof sd card with a ten year guarantee then look no further.

Too slow for HD video on Canon 550D camera
