I chose this on the basis of the best buy award from PC Pro and I have not been disappointed.
It looks nice with a dark red patterned lid. The touch pad is a bit difficult to notice, but the 4 blue LEDs at the corners make it easy to see - although slightly distracting.
I like the "chiclet" style keyboard.
The glossy screen is not what I prefer but there are not many computers with nice matt screens around.
Performance is fast and efficient with the i3, 3GB of RAM working well with the 320 GB HDD. No problems so far. However, I have no plans to use this for gaming.
Compatibility: My old Canon LBP 810 is not supported by Windows 64 bit. This is the responsibility of Canon who would rather I forked out for a new printer instead of providing drivers for the functional printer I already have. Please check availability of 64 bit drivers for your peripherals before buying a Windows 64 bit computer!
Slots/expansion: 4 USB slots, one of which doubles as eSATA; HDMI; ethernet; VGA; Express card/34 and SD card slots are present. No firewire, but you can get an express card firewire adaptor to connect the old video camera.
Conclusion: a well specified, nice looking, high performance laptop.

Bought this laptop after extensive research on the internet about which one to buy, so many varying views i didn't find any real negative ones about the samsung so decided to buy it. Delivery from Amazon was fantastic, ordered it late sunday afternoon and arrived wednesday morning 7.00am (free delivery). The laptop looks and feels superb, very high quality and it performs brilliantly. I would have no hesitation recommending this laptop to anyone.

I am very pleased with this laptop - replacement for my 2004 Vaio which has a small C-drive and became clogged up with downloaded updates for everything. I like the colour and the keyboard as well as the functionality of course - and am glad I went from XP direct to Windows 7...

Niggles? - only that the lid doesn't lie flat (there are no sockets on the back so it could have been designed to lie flat) ... and I need two hands to open the lid as it is stiff and the whole laptop is not very heavy so it tips without opening if trying to use only one hand. Definitely not a show-stopper though!

This is a very good laptop. It is stable, efficient and reasonably priced while also looking good (both good screen and general aesthetic).

If you are a tech expert I am sure there are faults to highlight, if not and you are looking for a good laptop at a reasonable price then you could do a lot worse.

I needed a new laptop for Uni and had been searching for a while. I liked the look of this model but wasn't sure whether I really wanted to pay the extra for the better graphics but boy am I glad that I did. By having the better graphics option it frees up the i3 cpu to do it's thing and it flys! I've had it hit 6.3 on a system check on this machine, faster than my desktop, although slighty older - that's a gorilla as well. This thing is a beast and no mistake!

Buy it without fear of regret. It's not meant to be a gamer's laptop but boy it can hold it's own!!

Samsung are incredibly strong in netbooks and also in notebooks, where they are currently the best at this screen size (15.6") and above. They have great design and functionality. However, unless you really need the performance of the i3 processor, you can save yourself a three figure sum by getting an RV510 with e.g. an Pentium T4500 processor. The savings are even greater if you don't mind a Celeron T3500 processor - all the other features (W7HP, DVDRW, webcam) are still there.

Although this was the bee's knees when i first got it, a systemic problem with the graphics card eventually lead to its death. To be fair i should have acted quicker when i first started getting wierd graphical glitches, but at the time I desperately needed the laptop for work and couldn't send it back. Anyways, after about a year (during which time the glitches had just become acceptable and normal) the thing melted down completely. Although I'm a massive fan of Samsung, I seem to not have had the best of luck with their electroncis. 2 Tvs and a laptop have all died within 1-3 years of purchase :(
