I bought this as I am planning on building a new PC and want it as fast as possible. I did a bit of research, and for average user there is very little difference in performance between this drive and the 840 Pro, yet this one is quite a bit cheaper.
Unfortunately, my new PC isn't built yet, so I installed it in a four-year-old Dell, that has a 3GHz dual core processor. I partitioned the SSD using MiniTool Parition Wizard into two primary paritions, leaving the final 23GB unallocated(to allow approx 10% free space for overprovisioning). On the first parition I installed Windows 7 Ultimate, and used Samsung Magician to configure the drive for performance (and to enable rapid mode). It takes 8s for the POST and bios processes to finish, before the SSD can even start to load, and it then took 15 seconds extra to boot without any other software installed. I did the same thin in the second partition but this time used Windows8 Professional, and after the computer did the POST processes, it took 6 seconds to boot - now that is fast! On a more modern PC, I expect it will be much faster.
For those who buy this, download the latest Samsung Magician from the website. The one that comes with the device is out of date and doesn't even include Rapid mode. And don't forget to buy a 2.5 to 3.5 inch converter. I forgot!
But to conclude, for the price, this is a very good SSD and very easy to configure. If you're thinking of getting an SSD, I advise you to get this, you won't regret it.
