I do a lot of recording on my Mac using Garageband, and needed a new mic (I was tired of carrying around an old XLR style mic and a usb converter), and so after having a look at this and the Samson C01U, I bought this one because of the added features, for example, you can flick a switch on the mic to cut out low-frequency buzzing, and another switch adjusts whether the mic is unidirectional, bidirectional or multidirectional). The things that stand-out about it are: the sound quality (excellent), the build quality (nice metal finish and it feels solid), and the ease of use (I just plugged it in and it was ready to use). I've also tried it out on a Windows 7 computer with Audacity, and again there were no problems installing it and the sound quality was great. I haven't tried to use it for recording live gigs (so I don't know how it copes in these situations), but for studio recording and podcasting I can highly recommend it.

I got this microphone to record a podcast initially, but after hearing the quality I tried recording a bit of guitarplay, and it picks up EVERYTHING. I do recommend that you use this in a separate room, since it will be rather sensitive to background noise.
If you have a room or space with good noise dampening that you can use as an impromptu studio, but you don't really want to go the whole hog then this is a great mid-way stop.

Firstly, I am new to owning a microphone. This is a good product to start off with. Bought this because me and my sister love singing and would like to record our vocal over garage band(an app in mac). It is easy to set up the mic on mac. You just connect your mic to the pc and go to your setting>sound then click on the input tab and click on Samson.The sound quality was nice and smooth. The delivery was fast and on time. When I open the box I was surprised that the mic came with a mini stand. Overall, I am a satisfied customer. Thank you.
