My writing score always stays at 20 and I never knew what I did wrong. The samples in the book help me see the problem and I understand essay parts. Recommend to students who need to get better at writing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Useful indeed! 7 Nov 2013

I'm giving 3 stars only because I had to buy the book, even though I am a Kindle Customer. "Kindle is NOT needed to purchase this book"...oh, well...didn't work for me, clearly. A side it, I'm finding this TOEFL book useful, indeed. It's true, there are many other ways to get hints about writing - youtube, websites, forums and so on - although, I noticed that, when it comes to talk about TOEFL, most of the templates, samples and suggestions given are always pretty similar and basic. In other words, I feel like they are designed to make you comfortable during the actual test and help you get a good score, but nothing more. Online, there is not really an elaborated explanation on how to develop paragraphs, sentences, introductions...and if you find some, they are all quite the same. If you wish to master your writing skill, (if you are getting the TOEFL to enroll to University, most likely, you want that), this is a good source. I don't know whether or not it's the best one, yet I consider it being quite illuminating, easy to follow and surely has a reasonable amount of templates. Templates, as well as general hints, won't ever create your thoughts, but it is helping me to enhance my writing. Reading, reading, reading-----> practicing, practicing, practicing! :-) Let's hope it works!
