Product Description

Product Description

Born in County Durham, England. This singer-songwriter's reputation has been bolstered by virtue of countless searing live performances throughout the UK and Europe.

His early love of literature and music led to the formation of the first Daintees line-up in his early teens.

After two singles, notable among which was 1982's intoxicating "Roll On Summertime", a debut album was embarked upon.

Salutation Road captures the Daintees at their peak of creative genius. It is an album, which ebbs and flows and yet still manages to surprise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, and album worth 5 stars 10 Aug 2011
Format:Audio CD
How could you not like this album? It's superbly recorded, and if you have a good system you'll really appreciate the quality. The music itself is a blend of folk/jazz that has an excellent beat to it. If you start from track 1 and let it play, the songs get progressively better up to track 7. You'll be wondering where this album has been all your life! No one has ever heard of this guy, but whenever I put this disc on everybody likes it. Buy it - you won't be disappointed.

A mix of jazz and pop this album is easily one of my top 10 of all time. Unbelievable recording quality combined with superb music make this an album that absolutely everyone should own. I play this for people who've never heard of Martin Stephenson before and they, without fail, want to know where to buy it. I love this CD. Buy it and be amazed!

5.0 out of 5 stars If your're like me and you miss the old Dire Straits style.. 11 May 2004
By Dawn L. Busick - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I'd never heard of this band until I saw them opening for Melissa Etheridge on her Brave & Crazy tour in 1989. What a fun bunch of people! By the time the lead singer brought out the tuba for the title tune on this album, the audience was completely won over. My favorites on this album are "Left Us To Burn" (great saxophone), "Spoke In The Wheel", "Too Much In Love", "We Are Storm" and the title song. The lead singer reminded me a lot of Mark Knopfler. I believe if you like one song on this album, you'll like them all. Like Simply Red, Martin Stephenson & the Daintees are keeping American soul/R&B alive for the younger folks.
