A great set of 'easy to use' scales. Easy to clean, accurate measures and easy storage. All I want now is to know where I can get another bowl from.

4.0 out of 5 stars Weighing scales 23 Sep 2009

These scales are a great non electrical design and are so simple to use. To adjust the weight indicator line you simply move the top part of the casing, which in turn helps weighing differant ingredients as you simply set the line back to zero when adding each new ingredient.
They may not be designed for the smallest of amounst for cooking but are great for most cooking challenges
And with the added plastic mixing bowl which sits on top of the scales you can add and mix in the same bowl, Plus, teh bowl, when turned upside down, sits over the scales and stores away nice and neatly.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best for the price 25 Jun 2009
By Dkp
After trying a few digital scales I find this non digital one to be the best of all.
It's easy to use, and the zeroing between weighings makes these scales a
must have.
The chrome finish makes it look expensive and would look good in any kitchen, I also like the idea of the bowl sitting upside down on the scales for storage.

I have always used the salter add & weigh scales. I had a previous model for years - until I dropped them! This model is ok for a quick weigh but I would have to say that, I don't find them particularly accurate on the small amounts. Also storage can be a bit of a problem as the bowl tends to slide around a bit when upturned on the top. Overall they do what they say but if you are looking for accuracy then I would go for another model. Hope this helps.

5.0 out of 5 stars I like to weigh things 30 Aug 2008
These scales are great. Its really quick to adjust the scales when you want to weigh things without the bowl.

I cant think of anything else to say about scales but they seemed nicer to use than others!

2.0 out of 5 stars Cheap & plasticky 6 Oct 2010

Ok you get what you pay for and at £12 they're ok (just). They are not very accurate for small amounts and are very plasticky and unsubstantial. They came with a 15 year warrenty, as I doubt that they will lasy 15 days I have made sure I kept the box and receipt. Push the boat out a bit and opt for a more expensive scale.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cheap and cheerful, but does the job 19 Oct 2010

Having had a bumper crop of apples, cherries and blackberries from my garden this year, I decided to try and make some pies. The internet provided and ample source of recipes, but they all required getting the quantities and proportions right. Not owning any scales other than a bathroom set, and rejecting those as being too imprecise for use in baking, I looked around for a set of kitchen scales at a reasonable price. These fit the bill very well - they seem reasonably accurate (anyway, its the proportions that are important rather than absolute value weights of ingredients), aesthetically pleasing. easy to use and compact for stowing away. On the negative side, although appearing from the online picture to be chromed metal and glass, they are pure plastic and I doubt they will stand any rough handling or being dropped, even once. However, for light and occasional use at a budget price - ideal!
