rocking all known casbahs, 29 Nov 2001
This review is from: Salt Sweat Sugar (Audio CD)
it'd be easy to think that with all the generic nu-school metal and punk bands clogging up the charts, alternative music was in danger of becoming as stale and pretictable as pop music gets. Then again, if you think that you've never heard Jimmy Eat World. "Salt Sweat Sugar" is a passionate example of how good music gets, with power just oozing out of every part of the song, as well as being every bit as catchy as anything S Club 7 could spew out of the random lyric generator without the massive amounts of cheesiness. It's 5 stars all the way, buy the album too if you know whats good for you.

The 2nd best song I've ever heard, 29 April 2003
This review is from: Salt Sweat Sugar (Audio CD)
I love songs with passion, energy and feeling bursting from their seems. But i also love songs that are incredibly catchy, simple and fun to listen to and sing along to and simply enjoy. This song is full of both. It hits you straight away with the increibly catchy chorus riff before hurling you into a simple but stunningly enjoyable, jumpy little verse. You find yourself singing along by the second verse even if you've never heard it before. If just over 3 minutes of emo/punk/whatever ecstasy isn't enough for you then the 2 B-sides deliver some more class from Jimmy. If they are not enough then you've got the Salt Sweet Sugar promo video to sink your teeth into which is simply JEW playing live, but with so much energy and passion for what their doing that you could watch them for hours. That has to be enough for you. This truly is a masterpiece in my opinion and truly worth owning. (PS my favourite song is Coma America by Amen.)
