As someone who grew up in England in the years following WW2 I was interested to read this acount of how the plane in question came to be over Lancashire on its return to its base at metheringham in lincolnshire.

It is of particular interest to me because my father was posted to 106 Squadron only a few days after the events in the book occurred, and he actually flew in two of the planes which took part in the operations leading up to the crash on 31 July 1944.

A good read for anybody interested in ther history of RAF Bomber Command towards the end of the war in Europe.
