Product Description

Product Description

This book is not intended to be a deep-dive on security, programming, reporting, configuration, etc. but more of a high-level overview on salesforce.com, Force.com development, tools, methodology and other resources. We will not cover all aspects of salesforce.com. We wrote this book to (hopefully) become an invaluable resource for anyone new or inexperienced with the Force.com platform. For new administrators and developers coming on to the platform, we see a gaping hole in existing reference books. This book is not intended for end users or advanced developers. This book is for people somewhere in the middle; let’s say a business analyst or a new Java or .NET developer. We would like this to be the first book you pick up after your boss walks in and says, “Let’s take a look at salesforce.com and see if we can build some applications in the cloud”. This book contains the information that we wish we had when we started developing applications on Force.com.

Great Resource 20 May 2011
By Kyle M. Roche - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is a great resource for any admin or aspiring Force.com developer. Taken from real world examples, this book walks you through scenarios you're likely to run into either in consulting or in your own app dev project. Nicely done.
Awesome book | Must for Salesforce Developer/Admin | Must read 3 April 2012

Got the book (Kindle Edition) the book was written in organized fashion and I believe after reading Jason Roulette book and other resources this book turn out to best resource to get a quick start with Salesforce. I should say if you need to know Salesforce or have been trying your hands but something is blocking your progress as salesforce have distributed sources. I believe this is only source that bring all the stuff under one roof

This books takes you to all the way from introduction of Salesforce cloud, more about the how the salesforce as company works the data center information which is very informative. Then chapters takes you to setting up Salesforce from scratch in the org how to setup sandbox, refresh the sandbox, code deployment in the production, security all administration task, profile users difference must for certification and then explain business objects like leads opporutnities in one flow which is outstanding

I finished the book in 3 hours and trust me you keep on reading this book its like reading the Jeff doughlous blog

In addition for the other developers, this book had wide coverage for a salesforce developers in market (couple of pieces are from Jeff old blog post ) but it takes you how to write trigger, how to bulkfy the code, useage of data structure with apex code sample, 1/3 of book is about using MVC in salesforce to wide coverage of apex, controllers class and visual force pages.

If you want to clear dev 201 to 401 this book is perfect read, read once polish and horn skill the bridge the cap with one book

God bless the writers, please write one more book for advance developers and on integration of cloud (heroku) and others

Whereas a traditional database has tables and columns, the Force.com database is composed of objects and fields. You can think of the two in roughly the same way. "e;

Salesforce.com has roughly 3000 Dell servers (50% are idle, staged for disaster recovery) configured in a pod infrastructure. These pods are clustered pools of RedHat Linux boxes running open source Resin app servers, Oracle RAC database instances, Java app servers, Lucene full-text search servers, load balancing servers and a SAN disk array. "e;
