Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

As the inhabitants of Redwall relax in the haze of the long, hot summer, they are unaware that the neighbouring stronghold of Salamandastron lies besieged by the evil weasel army of Ferhago the Assassin, and that the Mara, the beloved daughter of Urthsipe, Badger Lord of the Fire Mountain, is in terrible danger. But when a lightening bolt uncovers the sword of Martin the Warrior, young Samkin embarks on adventure that leads him to Mara, and their lives become inexplicably entwined.

Brian Jacques once again strikes to the heart in this stunningly executed adventure, another in the bestselling Redwall series, proving, if indeed proof was needed, that he ranks high among the best children's authors in the world. His genius lies in his ability to capture character and atmosphere with a stroke of a pen, drawing the reader in until the only way to start breathing again is to finish the book. --Susan Harrison --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Product Description

As Redwall slumbers in the summer sun, it is unaware that the mountain stronghold of Salamandastron lies besieged by the weasel army of Ferahgo the Assassin, and that the deadly Dryditch fever is creeping towards the Abbey. 5.0 out of 5 stars Salamanderstron legendery home of the Badger Lords/Ladies!, 23 Nov 2004
By Michael Bunney (Godalming, Surrey United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This incredible story by Brian Jacques is filled with adventure, excitement and moments good and bad. The tale begins with a badger Lord Urthstripe the strong of Salamanderstron and his adoptive daughter Mara. Mara and her young hare friend Pikkle run away from the mountain Salamanderstron ignoring the cautions of her pretective father, until they encounter an inocent blue-eyed weasel, Klitch, and his ferret friend Goffa. They soon befriend each other but little do they know that Klitch is the son of the evil Ferahgo the Assassin.....
The events of Redwall and Salamanderstron link up into an amazing quest to get back Martin the Warrior's sword and an amazing battle against Ferahgo and his horde.
An incredible book you must read it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good, 23 Aug 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Salamandastron (Hardcover)
This book is very similar to the other Redwall books, except this one focuses not on Redwall or a journey outside Redwall, but on Salamandastron. Salamandastron is under siege and it's up to the badger lord to defend the mountain. This is an exciting book with a tragic ending, fast pace and plenty of cheerful, comic and heroic characters. There is, as usual, a bloody and dramatic ending.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is awesome, Two thumbs up!!!, 25 May 1999
By A Customer
I read a real good book called Salamandastron, by Brian Jacques. It is a fantasy book about woodland creatures that fight wars with vermin like rats, weasels, stoats, etc......... This particular book is about the evil Ferrahgo the Assassin-an unmerciful ferret warlord that wants to take over the mountain fortress Salamanstron. But, Urthstripe the Strong has other plans. Mean while at Redwall Abbey, place of peace, the sword of their mighty hero has been stolen by two stoats that brought a disease and killed a man. See how they cure the sickness, recover the sword, and if Urthstripe can defeat Ferrahgo and the vermin in the action packed fantasy book, Salamandastron.
