New Zealander Peter Gordon moved to the UK in 1989 and opened the Sugar Club in 1996, marking the arrival of fusion food to Britain. In its first year it was named Best Modern British Restaurant in the Time Out Awards. His latest venture, The Providores and Tapas Room opened in Marylebone High Street in 2001 and was an instant success winning the coveted, Square Meal Best New Restaurant Award. His cookbooks include The Sugar Club Cookbook and Cook at Home with Peter Gordon as well as a World in My Kitchen. He has also made a thirteen-part series for the Carlton Food Network, Peter Gordon's Pacific Food, and featured in both Nigel Slater's and Jamie Oliver's highly successful series.

Incredibly easy, dashing one-dish lunch or dinner-party fare. Have you noticed that guests just don't want to eat piles of stodge anymore? Peter Gordon's Salads are utterly delicious but can be deceptively presented as healthy and even as GI Diet-friendly. Thing is, you can tell he's a chef; basically the setup he imagines is a kind of mise, where you prepare each ingredient separately and then assemble. This can seem like a lot of faff after work, by the time you've toasted this and roasted and peeled that. Some of the recipes have one ingredient too many. But this is a fine book for entertaining; I've now made half a dozen of his salads for dinner or lunch parties and have been complimented every time.

Now - MY Main Course - this seems to me the best way to lose weight and love it - Diet is a four-letter word and not worthy to be used. Enjoy a variety of Salads the Gordon Way I could not want another book on Salads

Love salads anytime but sometimes you need inspiration and different ingredients - this book is ideal for these reasons and more. Only just received it and have used every day - it also helps your imagination too.
