Good, but No SWORD 2 Jan 2006
By T. Hafke - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I bought this cd used based on the fact that it had the lead singer from sword, and guest appearances by other members of the group. I was disapointed to find out is shares nothing with sword except the singer, who you wouldn't recognise if you didn't know it was him. Sword was a power metal band. This is a sleeze/glam out put in the same vein as Skid Row, which isn't surprising, since it has tracks written by Rachel Bolan and Jon Bon Jovi. Also, Aldo Nova gets songwritting credit on almost every track, and is also listed as additional guitars.

It is a very solid album, and has some memorable songs, with standout being Wheels Of Fire(NOT the Sword song) and Frankenstein. Very good for this type of music. They probably could have made it biger in the US, but being released in 1992, grunge already had it's filthy little hands around the neck of this type of metal. If you're into sleeze/glam type rock, this is one for you, but if you are into harder things, save your money.
LOUD and MELODIC hard rock classic! 14 Oct 2011
By David Banner - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I think this was the only album put out by this band. That is quite a shame because it is one of my all-time favorites. Think of Bon Jovi/Skid Row etc but LOUDER AND MORE AGGRESSIVE while keeping to the core formula of rocking anthems and soaring ballads. The drums on this album are absolutely LOUD and POUNDING throughout, the lead and rhythm guitars kick @ss big time and the lead singer belts out the lyrics with supreme hair metal attitude. I guarantee this band would have made it big if it had released this album in the halcyon days of 80's hair metal.

This one is hard to find nowadays but is well worth obtaining. My collection would be nothing without it. It is definitely up there in the top 25 CDs that I own (out of 1,000 plus).
A true hidden GEM from the early 90s 11 Oct 2009

Take one look at the back cover of this album and you have an idea what is in store for your aural entertainment. There is a picture of the band replete with long hair, black leather and ripped jeans. Yes, this is hair metal but there is no bubble gum here. These guys rock hard and "RIP IT UP" on most of this album, as indicated by the title of track number two on the album.

Speaking of that song, I would consider nominating it as one of the all-time best songs to come out of this 80's genre. YES, it is THAT GOOD! However, the album is not carried by the weight of this song alone (although it could be). "Takin my chances" is a classic power ballad that would also rank as one of the all-time best ever made. "We Belong" is a great anthemic type semi-ballad that will have you singing along for days after hearing it. "Slippin into Darkness" and "Lesson of Love" are both intense hard rocking metal tracks with great guitar and driving rhythm throughout. Slippin' also has a real nice guitar solo in the middle. "Frankenstein" is an epic rock song that reminds me of Alice Cooper in the 80s (probably from the lyrics I guess). The rest of the songs are good as well but are not my favorites off the album. "Wheels of Fire" reminds me a little of Motley Crue.

If you like your music full of loud, crunchy guitars, pounding drums, strong vocals and power melodies, this is a must have album. I would say that 5-7 tracks are absolute killer and the rest are not bad. How many times can you say that for a ten track album? This is definitely a five star album in my book.
