The perfume is named after Paris, the adored city of Yves Saint Laurent, who created it as a tribute to the Parisiennes who are continuously elegant, romantic, vibrant, ironic, simple and delightful. Paris is a bright harmony of roses and violet flowers. This woody but floral fragrance starts with bergamot and violet, shadowed by may rose and iris at its heart, ending with extraordinary warmth of sandalwood. It was created in 1983. The nose behind this fragrance is Sophia Grojsman. Yves Saint Laurent Paris is a perfume that is to be worn during the day. Laurent's career in fashion began at the tender age of 17, when he served as an assistant to Christian Dior. With Dior's death four years later, Laurent was named head of the house of Dior at just 21 years of age. Still a young man when the Algerian War of Freedom broke out, Laurent was drafted into the army in 1960 and lost his position at Dior. Military service and despair over the loss of his design position resulted in a hospital stay. After a brief period of recuperation, Laurent started his own fashion company and went on to become one of the most influential fashion designers of the 1960s and 1970s. Fashion house Yves Saint Laurent is the French style house founded by Yves Henri Donat Mathieu-Saint-Laurent. The house and designer are often abbreviated as YSL.Yves Saint Laurent has over one hundred perfumes in their fragrance collection. The earliest edition was created in 1964 and the latest is from 2012. Yves Saint Laurent fragrances were made in collaboration with perfumers Ralf Schweiger, Cecile Matton, Honorine Blanc, Alberto Morillas, Annick Menardo, Jacques Cavallier, Olivier Cresp, Jean-Claude Ellena, Jean-Francois Latty, Pierre Bourdon, Anne Flipo, Pierre Wargnye, Dominique Ropion, Olivier Polge, Carlos Benaim, Jean Amic, Jean-Louis Sieuzac, Sophia Grojsman, Laurent Bruyere, Sophie Labbe, Daniela Roche-Andrier and Karine Dubreuil.
