Hi - no, its not an Arduino board built by Arduino. But its entirely compatible, and the build quality was very good. Chip used is a higher spec than in the Arduino. I've been very pleased with the board as supplied.
It is a programmable micro controller - search on YouTube to see all the things you can do with it. You don't need to be able to programme though - hardly anyone does. You just download programmes and edit them.
Hi Danny These kits seem to change in content. You need to get the Arduino general doc and the sketches relevant to the hardware in the kit Try http://www.sainsmart.com/vanilla/discussion/168/starter-kit-tutorials-download-address-open/p1 and http://www.sainsmart.com/zen/documents/20-013-100-104/ Think you need the 100-104 version depending on which kit you have. Note that Starter may be shown as Stater. There is also http://www.sainsmart.com/starter-kits/uno-r3-smartkits/sainsmart-1602lcd-starter-kit-with-17-basic-arduino-projects.html that is similar. You will need a zip program to extract the files. There is also their forum at http://www.sainsmart.com/vanilla/ Hope this helps Kind regards Clive
