5.0 out of 5 stars A Beautiful Set 8 Feb 2013
By Boleyn
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Like any girl from the 90's who loved cartoons, I fell in love with Sailor Moon. it was my introduction to the world, the dark world that is, of anime. Since then I have certainly favoured 'subbed' than 'dubbed' anime (perhaps we can all admit that Sailor Moon dubbed was a bit ... well, rubbish), but Sailor Moon still remains dear to me. I purchased the manga separately first, not aware that the box set was released, so I can tell you this: the box set it WORTH GETTING. It's a beautiful design, it has cool stickers you can give to the kids, and it really brings back those childhood memories *sigh*.

Also, make sure to catch Sailor Moon 2013, a new version of the anime!

5.0 out of 5 stars A fabulous item for Sailor Moon fans 30 Sep 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Each of the six volumes presents good binding, thick enough paper and some initial pages in colour, beside a final set of notes from the translator that give more insights on Japanese cultural references.
The collecting cardboard box looks simply gorgeous.
A fantastic addition to every Sailor Moon fan's shelves!

really excited for the new anime :)
I have been watching the original anime release and wanted to read the manga to see the difference--
naoko takeuchi's artwork is absolutely beautiful and flawless and you can really appreciate it with this re-release boxset with her amazing artwork in full colour on the outside, on each cover and even in each volume.
definitely buy this if you're a fan of sailor moon or even of just beautiful old-school manga artwork ♥

5.0 out of 5 stars In the name of the MOON! 2 July 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I used to watch this show every morning on GMTV before school. It was my first experience of anime. When I went to college I learned there was a manga and went looking for it, to no avail. Only older American copies on eBay selling for ludicrous prices. Now, finally, they have released an affordable collection, with Box Set 2 confirmed for this year, and I couldn't be happier.

Now all they need to do is release the uncut anime over here, not just seasons 1 and 2. Then I'll be made up, as they say.

What I love most about this manga are the undertones of female love, the soft pretty illustration styles, the beautiful eyes and hilarious comedy alongside romance and action. You cannot say that Sailor Moon is a cliched magical girl story, because certainly to me, it is THE magical girl story from which all other magical girl stories sprang.

Box Set 1 contains volumes 1-6. The stickers are fine actually, I wasn't expecting much but they're rather cute, I love them. I'd rather use them as bookmarks though. The side of the box may look incomplete, but only because it fits together with Box Set 2 to make a more complete image. Still, it doesn't look too obvious unless you've seen that completed picture before, lol.

Its great to see where Naoko started and where she ended up with the Sailor Moon we love, brilliant idea adding in the original concepts. The story develops very fast but its fantastic.
