Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Hear movies and enjoy your entertainment like never before.

Never miss a thing

Our Sagemcom Freeview+ HD RTI90-500 T2 recorder gives you access to over 50 TV and 24 radio channels, including HD channels from the BBC, ITV and Channel 4, giving you more choice, and if you have a HD Ready TV you can upscale your picture to 1080p giving you clearer, sharper images. The 500GB hard disk drive means that you never have to miss your favourite programme again, just set up your recording from the TV guide by pressing the record button, you can even record a series at the touch of a button. With the Twin Tuner you can watch one digital channel while recording another, or record two channels simultaneously whilst watching a previous recording.

Personalising Folders

So you’re starting to build a library of content, you can now start organising it into personal folders, for example Mum’s folder, Dad’s folder or categorise them into genre like Movies, Children’s or Entertainment. This is so much better than just having a long list of recorded content in alphabetical order.

With the Twin Tuner you can watch one digital channel while recording another

Want great sound quality?

You won’t just see amazing images, you will also ‘feel’ part of the on screen action. Just use the audio connections on your freesat digital box to connect to your home cinema system, then you will hear movies and enjoy your entertainment like never before.

Series Link

If the programme you love is part of a series you can simply select to record the whole series at a touch of a button. It will prompt you when you press record whether you want to just record that episode or the whole series; simple.

500GB hard disk drive

What does it mean for you? Basically if there is something you would like to record and watch at a later date then you can, by pressing the record button or setting it up to record if it is on at a later time or date. The 500GB hard disk drive gives you up to 250 hours of recording time.

HDMI upscaling

User Friendly EPG

Our innovative and easy to use EPG makes selecting your chosen channel easy. Just press the guide button on the remote control and use the controls to scroll up and down the channels to your desired programme. The programme guide will show you what is showing over the next eight days and from here you can select to record any of these programmes.

HDMI™ upscaling

Want great picture quality? By connecting your Sagemcom Freeview+ to an HD Ready TV via an HDMI cable you can upscale your picture to 1080i giving you brighter, clearer picture quality.

After ordering this with some trepidation, after reading very mixed reviews, I was very pleased to find that once the software had automatically updated itself, this is a very good bit of kit. We've had no problems - the sound quality is good and there have been no glitches, the picture is excellent and the EPG is pretty good, compared to others I've used. The record facility is very easy to use. This has totally changed the way we watch television, for the better.

I can't quite say we've no complaints - it does take a bit longer than we'd like when you switch it on, but that really isn't a big issue.

The Sagemcom RT190-500 is a really tiny box for what it does - much smaller than the normal DVD players. However, it also has a separate fairly small transformer which isn't so easy to place; I've put mine on top of the sub-woofer of a 5.1 loudspeaker system adjacent to the TV.

The RT190-500 has a good digital TV amplifier, but my previous (now defunct) Sharp Freeview recorder seemed to have a slightly better output signal. The main problem for me is that the aerial output from the RT190-500 to the TV doesn't give a good signal in standby mode. If I'm watching Freeview using the TV tuner and switch the RT190-500 to standby, then the TV picture breaks up or I get a message that the signal is too weak. So, I need to power up the RT190-500 to get the aerial to work OK for the TV signal input.

That's the weak points over. The quality of the RT190-500 is generally very good. It provides a good HD transmission on Freeview channels 50, 51 and 52 - I hadn't realised that these channels existed before and thought you just tuned into BBC1 and you would get HD if it was transmitting an HD signal. You learn something every day! The recording arrangements are fine with straight forward controls; recording a series is working fine - recorded X-Factor, Dr Who and the James Bond films as "series" and so far it's doing a grand job!

Overall, a pretty good Freeview and Freeview HD processor and recorder with a capacious hard-drive. Probably couldn't have done better for the price.

Quick to set-up - plug in mains, arial and hdmi. 3 quick clicks and the box was up and running. HD channels and recording anything I might be missing. The football looks great, the channel guide gives me all the info I need, recording programmes is a one-button task. I usually struggle with boxes to work and flat pack furniture but this worked first time :-)Sagemcom RTI90-500 T2 500GB HD Digital TV Recorder with Freeview HD
