What a pity... 20 Mar 2009

An amazing performance by Saga, covering the Canadian prog rockers' more than 10,000 days on the world's music scene. It's a pity that the quality of the recording does not match the quality of the recorded material: video is awful most of the time, audio is just slightly better. The farewell concert of Michael Sadler would have deserved more, much more. If you're wondering why three stars: I give 5 to the performance, 3 to the audio quality and 2 to the video quality.
I am giving everything five stars anymore but let me explain.... 24 Jun 2011

Five stars easily, these guys are talented and good and they play as a unit and everyone contributes evenly. Their writing is great and definitely a very underrated act in music. The Worlds Apart album will always be one of my favorite albums period, there is nothing else like it. Fortunately a lot of the songs from that album are done on this.

I have only listened to one other Saga album and that is Heads or Tales. Good music but nothing like Worlds Apart and some of those songs are on this album plus others I have never heard.

The only gripe as a Saga fan that I have here is with the song On the Loose. Mike Sadler is a great vocalist and even though he likes audience participation, he should still sing every part of that song. He lets the audience sing the words "I'm on the loose"! and I think it detracts. Partly because that is a highlight in the song and one of the most recognizable points and partly because the audience, although Saga fans, do not put out the horsepower to drive those words through at the end of the chorus.

Anyway, it is all still great and I can overlook my one gripe, so I am very happy I got this. Was really disappointed that I couldnt get Worlds Apart revisited. I dont know what the hell happened there but no one seems to be able to get it now. If anyone has a used copy of that, I am interested.
Saga-Contact:Live In Munich DVD 14 Sep 2009

Exceptional live performance of the Canadian Prog-Rock band Saga. This is not only the final performance of the 30th anniversary tour, but also Sadler's - the original lead singers farewell performance. Filmed on location at The Muffethalle, a once thriving factory in Munich, Germany now turned into a music hall. You will be amazed and delighted to see how this standing room only audience thanks Sadler and Saga for three decades of magical music.
