The straps at the back and bottom to fix the seat to a chair are quite fiddley to tighten but once done, the seat is held in position very securely. A second problem is that the distance between the back of the seat and the tray is only about 16.5cms so quite tight for older children. However, if as we do, you want to use it without the tray to sit a child up at a table, it is pretty good. Securing the child into the chair is very easy and seems perfectly safe although it doesn't have shoulder straps. Our grandson really likes sitting up properly at the table with us at meal times and also for drawing, playdough, etc. It can also be used as a mini TV chair with the adjustable legs extended. We will probably get a second one for our granddaughter.
