As a Specialist Community Public Health nurse student, I have found this book invaluable and would certainly recommend it to my peers and colleagues, newly qualified and experienced alike. There is an abundance of up to date research and information which all practitioners working with children and young people would find interesting and useful to inform their practice. This text has stayed close by my side whilst I prepare for the Safeguarding module exam and has also provided up-to-date references and knowledge base useful whilst reflecting upon my own practice for my portfolio and writing case conference reports.

What a wonderful informative and straightforward book that highlights and informs health professionals what to do in such sensitive matters. We are taught that within our role as nurses we are accountable for the safety of children that we may not be directly involved with. This book explains how to utilise these responsibilities in a legal and forthright manner. The chapters discuss policy, legislation and research that expands the knowledge required in order to safe guard children and young people in all areas of nursing practice. I have already recommended this book to colleagues who are in turn doing the same. This is a must have easy to use reference book.
