Topics covered include:
·Legislation and key guidance that affect England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland
·Continuity for good practice in safeguarding across the UK, including working well with other professionals and partnership with families

Excellent Book 29 Oct 2009
Format:Paperback
This book is excellent. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone working with children between the ages of 0-18 years. This book has helped me both as an early years practitioner and an undergraduate student. The information is easy to read and straight forward. There are several inquiry reports which enables readers to understand the process of child abuse cases, where it went wrong, and most importantly what we can do to help. It has the roles of all key professionals who may be involved in safeguarding children including; Social Workers, Health Visitors, GP's, Police and Early years practitioners. This book has been my 'bible' for the assingment and has helped me with everything i needed to include in order to meet the criteria of my course.

The book talks about different types of abuse, how to detect signs of abuse and a step by step guide on reporting suspicions of child abuse.

If you are a student, i would REALLY recommend this book as it will help you with your assignment on safeguarding children(Child Protection), but it is also good for future referencing so it wouldn't go to waste after you finish your course. This book will help all early years professionals in any setting to improve and develop their working practise.

Excellent buy.. no regrets at all. :)

This book is very well laid out and written in a very accessible form. One can tell the author is writig from experience and what a wealth of experience there is. There are lots of useful scenarios with answers at the back to et one thinking about how one would handle a situation. There are also lots of of useful pointers and tips and references to other reference materials and documents if one wants to go into more detail. Well worth the money and should be read by senior managers across the board and not just social workers, we can all learn much from what is in this very useful reference book. Unlike many reference texts this one does not send you to sleep. A good useful read.
