Book Description

This fully-revised second edition looks at how practitioners and students can achieve best-practice when working with vulnerable adults. The first part of the book explores the evolution of concepts and policies for safeguarding adults, with particular reference to the Human Rights Act 1998 and the Capacity Act 2005. In the second section the focus shifts to good practice in empowering vulnerable adults. The final section focuses on developing effective professional and inter-professional practice.

3.0 out of 5 stars Well written 1 Oct. 2013

I am still working my way through this book as I tend to dip in and out. It is well written and useful as a quick guide however it would probably be more useful for students studying English law as this is the legislation that the book is based on. There are references to Scottish law but not enough for studying adult protection in Scotland. I still found the book relevant to protection cases though as a base line. I would strongly recommend checking which part of the country the legislation relates to prior to buying.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book 16 July 2013
By Jacie
Format:Paperback
A must have book to understand aspects of safeguarding which is becoming more prominent in social work. This book is excellent for both students and practitioners. The examples and exercises included add reality to the text to consider who you would apply the theory in practice. A must buy
