I have waited decades, since first buying this LP in 1973 to hear more by this band. "Space Opera 2" was warmly received when it finally arrived but this archive release, including tracks from before the release of the first, 1973 LP is essential. If you think you dig American psychedelic guitar rock music from the early seventies then this is a cool album. A very cool item indeed.
Beginners are advised to buy that first LP to start with but if you already have that album, then you really do need this. The pre-LP recordings are amazing. Plenty of previously unheard tracks and versions of "Country Max" and "Over And Over" that will blow your mind all over again.
The guitars intertwine and tumble. The vocal harmonies are exquisite. The songwriting is up to scratch. A perfect archive release.
Now all I want is an archive release of some live shows. I just hope that it does not take another 38 years as I will probably be dead by then.
