Product Description

Product Description

"Saddle Fitting" is a comprehensive guide to choosing and fitting the most important item of your tack. The book contains simple descriptions and illustrated procedures which has, over the years, helped both professional saddle fitters and horse owners at all levels. It is meant to complement, but not replace, the skills of an experienced saddle fitter, whose advice should always be sought.

About the Author

Kay Humphries has spent most of her life with horses and was taught the art of saddle fitting at an early age. A car crash in 1971 put an end to her own hopes for a riding career and heralded a major change of direction. With her husband and friends she bought a saddlery shop and originally employed others to fit customers' saddles. But people began to ask for Kay in person, and now, by popular demand, she is fully occupied travelling and fitting saddles all over the world. She has lectured on saddle fitting in the UK, Europe and the USA. Kay currently specializes in saddles for horses with severe remedial problems, working closely with vets and chiropractors.

If you really care about the comfort of your horses back , this very clear, very affordable book will tell you all you need to know about how your horses saddle should REALLY fit his back. It is common sense, uncomplicated and the photos show how a horses back should and shouldnt look if he has the right or wrong saddle fitted. I had the great fortune of meeting the author and being at a lecture by her, it has totally changed the way I view saddles and my work with horses. If you get the chance to meet Kay Humphries then do so as she is a fountain of knowledge and REALLY cares about a horses comfort, but get this book first.

This book should be compulsary - it is easy to read and well illustrated and covers the basics of what a badly fitting saddle looks like - and the damage it can do to your horse.

Be warned this may prove a costly purchase - it made my friend go out and buy a new saddle right away!

Good info just not enough of it. Content was more like a reading a pamphlet than a book. If you are looking for the very simple bascis then this is your book.
