Christina is a young woman who is addicted to cocaine. It's a habit she shares with a work colleague, as well as her boyfriend. When she discovers that she is pregnant, at first she is miserable, but decides against abortion and begins to look foward to the birth. She struggles to quit using the drug during her pregnancy, without success. After she gives birth, her daughter is taken away from her. She has to give up the cocaine to get her child back. This has to be one of the most moving films that I have ever seen.

One woman's battles against addiction and the "system"

LIFETIME network's SAD INHERITANCE aired in 1993 as "Love, Lies & Lullabyes."
Here, Susan Dey is Christina Kinsey, a cocaine abuser whose out-of-wedlock child is born premature and physically addicted. Gabriel (Moffett), Christina's boyfriend is also an addict. He wants her to surrender the child for adoption.
When Christina's baby is taken from her by social services, she fights to reverse the decision by kicking coke and cleaning up her personal life. Florence Crawford (Toussaint) is the unsympathetic social worker who's had her fill of drug users, and Christina's mom (Laurie) is an alcoholic, so her help is necessarily limited.

In the 1986 feature film ECHO PARK, Susan Dey is a single mom and struggling actress who gives up bartending for the better paying, exotic job of singing strip-o-gram.

This was a very good movie depicting the sorrows and heartbreak of addicted women and their children.
