Product Description

Is this Music Magazine, March 2006

Black Sun will soundtrack your stay in the limpets of the underworld.

Album Description

This 8 track, 56 minute CD contains the blackest, filth-encrusted doom this side of the river Styx, and was mastered by James Plotkin of OLD/Khanate/Atomsmasher fame. This is skull-crushing, mournful doom metal at its finest!

3.0 out of 5 stars Heavy rage, 12 Mar 2007
By
Loose Bones (West Midlands, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sacred Eternal Eclipse (Audio CD)
Doom, from Glasgow apparently, mastered by James Plotkin (Khanate). To get the cliches out of the way, it's: heavy, crushing, slow, dark, uncompromising, hoarse, sinister, and maybe ambient noise, with down-tuned slabs of guitar. I found the guitar/ bass built well in a post-rock way from a gentle lulling to noisy chugging (lacking the polish of, say, Isis). There's a few atmospheric effects and plenty of disturbed incoherent raging vocal (not as corrupting as Axis of Perdition or Deadwood, though). Also, the fashionable low-fi drums work well (as for Meads of Asphodel). The track Seven Rooms rocks a bit more (instrumentally a bit like their compatriots, Mogwai), but overall the album doesn't carry like Amenra or Ramesses.
