4.0 out of 5 stars You cant stop - literally 10 Jun 2009

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
About time the PS3 got a decent RPG. And for the fans of Champions of Norrath on the PS2...this is a must buy. Its sort of like the Oblivion of hack and slash RPGs...

So, here's a little list of the things I love about it!
- This map is hhuuggee...it just goes on and on and on and on
- Loads of quests and I mean loads! The side-quests are not plentiful but are fun...varied tasks: SOme invovle just talking, some requrie you to escort, kill monsters, explore the map collecting things, you get the gist.
- The enviroments in this game are beautiful, so varied, so well created. There's lots of caves, caverens, dungeons and basements to venture into. With weather effects, day and night cycles its a pleasure just to explore.
- Lots of different mounts to buy (including horses!) that you can use to attack, jump over small walls etc as well as class specific mounts. Each mount improves yor character in diferent ways
- Basically, you create the the controls. You have four action buttons (X, Square, circle, triangle) you decide what each one does. So, for example, equip a sword onto X, a bow onto Tri...and everytime you press X, your character attacks with a sword, when you press Tri he attacks with his bow. As well as that! by holding down R2 or L2 you get eight more slots so in total, 3x4 slots = 12 slots to equip weapons and magics. Potions are assigned to the D-pad...so you got 4 slots there to play around with tooooooo.
- The devlopers seriously had some fun making this game. There's lots of humour, such as a jokes on gravestones (which you can read), there's even a quest which lets you watch a cutscene of a metal music band playing their songs...great!

Been a long time waiting for a decent hack 'n' slash RPG on the PS3 - last good ones were the Norrath games on the PS2. Got this over the weekend and have hardly put down the controller in all that time!

Character selection is a little limited but the base range of melee to magic characters is covered. The graphics are excellent, with just a little lagging/tearing from time to time, and very unintrusive area loading times.

Also, going by the map, the game area looks absolutely massive so plenty of gameplay to be had.

4.0 out of 5 stars Old-school RPG 20 July 2009
Platform for Display:PLAYSTATION 3|Edition:Standard Edition
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I eventually bought this game because it was reduced (£25 from GAME), having avoided it after reading so many mediocre reviews.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is actually a lot of fun and very addictive. It doesn't have the fantastic graphics of other PS3 games but it does have that Diablo/Dungeon Siege old-school RPG feeling, along with the associated hours of exploring, questing and just beating up random baddies.
I've had the game for a little over a week and haven't played online, but so far have found it thoroughly immersing.
As previous reviewers have mentioned there are a few irritating aspects - limited/non-existent customisation of your appearance; lack of a pause function; virtually no instructions, especially for the more detailed areas of skills/combat arts/weapon & armour upgrades; it took a while to get used to not being able to jump over obstacles or drop off raised areas.
There are a few quest bugs - I actually had an 'hireling' following me around for days before I gave in and let my husband look the quest up on the Sacred 2 forums to find out how to get rid of him!
It's not Oblivion (in my opinion the best RPG on the PS3), or Fallout 3, however, if you've finished these and fancy a new RPG you should give it try. The game world is big and there are loads of quests everywhere you choose to visit, as well as following the main storyline.

4.0 out of 5 stars A must own for RPG fans 30 July 2009

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I only heard about this game shortly before buying it so i wasn't quite sure what to expect, but i was more than pleasantly surprised. The game plays very similarly to the old Baulders gate games on the ps2, which really appeals to me personally.

The Game is massive, Absolutely huge, with 600 sub quests and a length main quest you'll be hard pushed to finish your first play through in 15 hours. There are 6 characters and each story is subtly different so you'll have fun playing it again and again.

The game is seen from a top down perspective that is almost never a problem, but occasionally in forests and the like your character and the monster it's fighting will be hidden behind the tree line. There are a lot of people griping about how the character customization is limited, and it is very limited, but as soon as you find some Armour this isn't a problem as you take on the appearance of the Armour you're wearing, adn with 7 Armour slots you will end up with quite a unique looking character.

Playing online is also a lot of fun, but for some reason seems kinda buggy a lot of the time, but this may just be down to the hosts internet connection as when i hosted a game all 4 players seemed to be working perfectly well. It would be nice to have a second player be able to play online with you (1 local player two internet connected) but for some reason you can only have either 1 local player or up to 3 internet connected players. C'est la vie.

The only reason I can't give this 5 stars is because it's still a bit buggy, While the problems aren't too invasive you often find yourself stuck on small rocks and pathways with no obvious way out, there are ways around this but to be riding along and suddenly find yourself stuck is slightly annoying. However the pros faaaaaaaaaar outweigh the cons so i can't hlp but recommend this game.
