1.0 out of 5 stars Forget this on 64 bit OS 25 July 2009
By Ginny
Platform for Display:PC|Edition:Standard Edition
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
It would be a really great game...if only it would play for more than 20 minutes without crashing. At least I only get a reboot, and not the BSOD. Bear in mind that I am running on an AMD Phenom Quad Core, 4 GB RAM and 2 x ATI Radeon 4850 X2 1024MB cards, so my system is eminently capable of running any game. Devil May Cry, Crysis, Oblivion, Fallout 3, the lot

Don't just take my word for it, check out the official Sacred 2 forums and you'll see that people with all different hardware configurations are having the same problems if they run 64 bit OS. And running in XP compatibility mode doesn't work either, not for everyone.

I bought this at full price, but this is not a fault of Amazon's. This is down to the game devs. Please no-one tell me that Oblivion and FO3 are temperamental...

I'd get Drakensang instead...that's what I did.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great, unless you have Windows 7 23 Oct. 2009

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Very fun game and unlike a lot of others I prefer the PC version to the console. But there is a big "however". I just upgraded to Windows 7 and this game simply isn't compatible with Windows 7 at the moment. There are a number of possible workarounds for getting it to run with Windows XP compatibility mode but then a lot of people (myself included) are having problems getting the activation code for the rather restrictive DRM to work. Leave well alone if you have Windows 7 until Deep Silver do something to get it working.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best thing you will play till Diablo III 29 Oct. 2009
Platform for Display:PC|Edition:Standard Edition
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Ok so this isnt going to win any prizes for originality but lets face it even Diablo was basically Gauntlet with RPG mechanics and stats thrown in and that made it a world beater. This game is more of the same but lets be honest theres nothing wrong with wanting more looting, questing and killing hoardes of monsters.

Graphically stunning, music and sound is impressive and whilst the quests and story are not going to set the world on fire they are interesting enough to entertain and the steam punk magic and technology setting in a fantasy world makes it stand out. Nice classes including some more unusual ones and lots of places to explore and so much loot it would make a pirate happy. The game world is huge and there are over 600 quests, many monster types and lots of other nice touches to experience and find.

For the price of asking and with little hope of Diablo III being released anytime soon you could do far worse than get a copy of this little gem. Game improves massively the more people join to play with you and you can even do a 16 player co-op game for maximum mayhem! If you want some good old fashioned monster spanking, dungeon hacking, loot whoring fun this is the game to get!

Grab the expansion Ice and Blood and add it on for even more carnage.

3.0 out of 5 stars Deep Silver two Sacred? 1 Nov. 2011
By Thom
Platform for Display:PC| Edition:Standard Edition|Verified Purchase
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
One drawback is the character selection. Very limited, when compared to Neverwinter Nights. The map is very large and enjoyable to explore like Dungeon Siege, with no sign of a load screen as you move around. It has a lot of weapons and armours to sort between, but the equip screen seems a little small even at 1024. The same problem is with any written text. There are a few small niggles with the fight and move buttons mapped to the same click, but if you can get to grips with these, you'll find a huge world with masses of quests and enemies. A great price and it will probably fill a month or two. Maybe worth getting the expansion... There is also the slight drawback that when you quit you HAVE to save so no going back to try quests again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Take flight, Ascaron 20 Jun. 2010
Platform for Display:PC|Edition:Standard Edition
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
An immersive action RPG. In depth, it can take weeks to find and bag all of the game's secrets. The story is also expansive, allowing the player to choose whether their hero desires destruction or peace. With 6 different characters to choose from, around 50 skills to customise his or her abilities, 2 sides to take on, a free world for questing, PvP for showing off one's skill, varying difficulty levels to make the game harder or easier for different players, and the epic lands of Ancaria, a gamer can find his or her money well spent. Though you will need a fairly good PC to run this game at optimum speed. Aside from the occasional glitch or two, the game easily one of the best RPGs you will ever play.

5.0 out of 5 stars On release this game struggled, but... 20 Dec. 2008
Platform for Display:PC|Edition:Standard Edition
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
On release this game was a shambles, I bought it on pre order, and had a feeling it would end up much the same. I installed it then got annoyed about 4 hours in, left it and went to Fallout 3/Mass Effect.

Then the patches come, and, what a difference it makes, the game was good, before (but buggy) they removed the most annoying bugs and added content with a quick succession of patches - why I left my review until later.

Point of note for UK consumers, there is a problem with patching the game follow:
2.0.2 (release)
then it doesn't matter, if you go right from 2.0.2 to 2.0.12 you will not be able to use the latest patch (unless it is fixed)

My review there for is glowing, and worth the wait, it will certaitly keep those awaiting DIII occupied at least a little bit, although hardcore Diablo fans might not be down with it so much.

Simalar to titan quest, and that is high praise (simply as I loved that game so much). Worth a try for sure, the support is there, and if only for a stop gap measure until Diablo 3, it's worth it.

Great buy, great support, expect more in the future by the looks of things.
