Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Julia Ormond faced one of the great challenges of her career when she tried to re-create Audrey Hepburn's title role in the 1995 remake of 1954's Sabrina. Happily, Ormond performed admirably, and while she may not have the same gamine charm of Hepburn, she makes the role her own. In fact, her transformation from mousy girl to sophisticated young woman is actually more dramatic in this updated version. The basic plot is the same--chauffeur's daughter falls in love with the son of the rich household, only to be wooed away by the older brother for business purposes--but it has been entertainingly modernised: The head of the Larrabee household is the strong matriarch (Nancy Marchand); Sabrina goes to Paris to work with a photographer instead of going to cooking school (although that means the wonderful "new egg" scene of the original had to be ditched); David's (Greg Kinnear) character has been toned down and made more sympathetic; and Humphrey Bogart's revolutionary plastic has become the flattest TV screen ever made. Lauren Holly does a fine job playing Elizabeth Tyson, David's fiancée. If you watch this for its own worth--instead of comparing it to the original--this will prove to be a terrific light-hearted romantic comedy. --Jenny Brown

When I heard that they were remaking the orginal Sabrina Fair I thought they were waisting their time. Why bother when no one could be as beautiful as Audrey Hepburn? When I saw it in the cinema I thought it was good but the orginal was better. Later on when I saw the movie again I reconsidered. The chemistry between Harrison Ford and Julia Ormond is fantastic, you can feel it coming through the screen. A fantastic film for when you are in a romantic mood

Excellent Film 23 May 2002

Format:DVD
This is one of those films where you spend the whole film trying to hate a character but by the end of the film you're hopelessly in love. Harrison Ford is spectacular and comes across as a paradox of gruffness and sensitivity, still maintaining his sex-appeal. Its a great film to watch on depressing rainy days and watching it over and over is not a problem. One last thing for all the women who read this, buy this film, get you're friends over and enjoy!!!

Classic romance 17 Aug 2006
Format:DVD
Any movie with Harrison Ford in it is sure to be a hit, and this is no exception. Ford plays a seemingly callous businessman who as the story develops, grows more and more endearing. Together with Julia Ormond who plays her role elegantly and sweetly, they bring an element of classic romance to this beautifully directed modern-day fairytale.

SABRINA
Heartwarming, romantic, rags to riches story. First-class acting with Harrison Ford and Julia Ormond. Very good value for money.

Classic remake of an all time classic
A fairy tale with imagination and originality.

It was always going to be hard to beat the original Hepburn and Bogart, but it compliments and modernises it nicely: Witty... Read more
