This is a nice looking kettle, and the temperature gauge is a good idea if you want to do some detailed cooking, but I'm afraid it isn't especially well constructed and thought through. The kettle fills through the lid, which doesn't seal back, so boiling water escapes from the side of the lid as well as the spout. Even if it did all leave the spout, the bit of plastic in the spout that I'm guessing is meant to stop steam doesn't fill the spout and so, again, boiling water splashes out the neck around the edge of it. In short, unless you pour at a dribble-speed some of the water misses whatever you're trying to pour it into, and I've scalded myself twice using it. In addition, after four weeks of using it, it is still producing tiny flakes of plastic in everything, which appear to be coming off the seal around the element. Shame, it looks nice and the gauge is useful - just needs a bit more work.

I have enjoyed using this kettle for well over a year now and in my opinion it represents excellent value for money - it still looks in 'as new' condition. It looks wonderful and is a refreshing change from the bland styles offered by some others. I believe the "tiny flakes of plastic" mentioned by the other reviewer are nothing of the sort - I believe that they are most likely flakes of scale. The element is concealed and scale, as with all kettles, will build up and flake off - that is what the filter in the spout is for. If indeed I found my kettle was shedding flakes of plastic I would return it immediately for a refund!!!
It is recommended that all kettles fitted with spout filters SHOULD be filled via the spout - I suppose that is to rinse the filter of scale build-up. If the other reviewer isn't doing this then this is probably why they are having problems whilst pouring boiling water - the filter could well be blocked!!
I have found this kettle to be robust and very well made - so much so that I have another one (Same make and model bought in a recent sale) put by for the future.
By the way, I have found over the years, that the best way to use ALL modern kettles is to ditch the spout filter and use an old fashioned tea strainer as if pouring tea from a pot.
It's 1.7 Kw element means that bringing to the boil takes a little longer than some kettles but it's hardly noticable even with a full kettle.
I HIGHLY recommend this kettle.

I purchased this kettle mainly because it seemed to offer good value for money and was the exact design and colour I was looking for, however I would not recommend this to anyone. This kettles does not pour very well at all and you end up spilling half the water everywhere except where you actually want it. We have complained to the manufacturer as this seems an inherent design fault. I will now be looking for a new kettle that does not leak!
